How do you feel about this? On the kia soul the drivers door speaker is by the drivers knees, youre not gonna hear it directly. How would it be to either measure that speaker from the center between the 2 front seats or all the way to the passenger ear level? And do the same from the passenger speaker, except that one to the drivers ears. If i measure from the driver ear to drivers side door speaker its gonna be nearly straight up. I could be wrong, just a idea.

you're still going to need to measure from the driver, you're going to get a lot of reflected sound, but you have to work with the source. bad driver placement sucks, there may be options at customspeakerpods.com/ref/Caraudioenthusiast/ Use Code "CAE" for a Discount at www.Customspeakerpods.com

I think you have your time alignment backwards. Shouldn’t you delay the closest speaker to your ear so the further speakers can have time to catch up and arrive at the same time.

yes you delay the closest speaker, but i am not explaining in Milliseconds, im explaining in distance. for that you 0 the closest, and - it from the others. "shorter distance = more delay" all the delays line up at your head. ms or milliseconds go up as distance goes down. so by using this trick, you're building all the delays, then moving everything closer so that one speaker "the furthest one" has no delay and the rest match. sounds trippy but it works, try it.

I understand how it works, I have a few different DSP’s and I’ve been doing this for 30 years or so. I was just thinking it might be confusing to some and your reply from my first comment explains more clearly to the newer guys. And yes zeroing the closest would be a good reference for actual distance and then setting up the time delay off that in milliseconds is correct. I agree.

At about 13:45 in the video you said to not delay the signal from the closest speaker. I think you accidentally said this and it might mislead people. Just a thought. I love watching your channel.

@@josephblaylock4051 yea, i misspoke, but the resty of the instruction is good, so folks should be ok if following from the start. but thanks for the call out

Umm using an app to measure pink noise would only tune your speakers to your phones microphone which I imagine would be very mid focused

mic is pretty flat. but what were mainly doing is cleaning up outliers.

I wanted to ask this question. What do I use as test tone, sine wave or regular test tone...and what's the difference between both

sine wave and test tone is the same thing, i use pink noise for setting EQ, and sine wave sweep for determining crossovers, and some EQ corrections when moving the sound field
