I was fortunate to be witness to one of BB's last concerts -- certainly one of the last in Florida. He was so incredible. Such a great guy too. Stuck around after the concert talking to all the people -- especially the young people. BB was a national treasure.

In April 2011 was in a bar on Sydney Harbour in Australia, drinking with 3 mates . It was my turn to buy a drink , as I walked up to the bar , an old bloke with a long beard came up to the bar. He looked hard up , so I offered to buy him a beer . He smiled at me and said in a Yankee drawl , "let me buy you one ," with that he opened his wallet which was jam packed with $100 bills. I was stunned ! He bought us all a beer and sat with us . He turned out to be Billy Gibbons . ZZ TOP were playing the next night at the Enmore Theatre . He gave us 12 tickets. Billy is a top guy !!

We all know BB can play. Not flashy but his note selection on his leads is flawless. That said, his voice is perfect for the blues. He never seems to hit a sour note. Talent like this is very rare. He has played with some of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen. R. I. P. Mr. King.

Back in '73 or so I was a West Point cadet and member of the fine arts forum. As a club bennie we got tickets to the Academy of Fine Arts in NYC. Headliner that night was BB King and the opening act was ZZ Top. There we were in our dress greys in swirling clouds of el ropo...I was there to see BB King but I was stunned to hear ZZ Top! I don't think the crowd appreciated the "lil ole band from Texas" as much as I did!

BB King, enuff said. About 20 years ago I had to go to Memphis to meet with Fred Smith and some of his executives. That evening myself, and a guy who travelled with me, had to try BB Kings restaurant. So that evening we went and it wasn't really all that crowded when we arrived so we sat at what a I would call a bar but it was facing the stage. On the other side of the bar was a walk way then the stage. So, anyway, we are enjoying our meal and suddenly BB King walks out on stage with his band and started to play. We were floored to say the least because there is BB King about 8 feet from me playing. He had this singer, Ruby, and I sad to say I do not remember her last name but that girl blue the roof off that place with her voice. He played a few songs and that was it. We asked the waitress if BB King did that every night and she said that he just shows up when he wants to. Needless to say we were so fortunate and it is something I will never forget.
