3. What type of trainings do you offer for your staff to ensure the safety of the clients?
• Understanding Disabilities, Abuse & Neglect, Critical Incidents, Bullying, Confidentiality, Accountability, Sexual Harassment, HIPPA trainings
• CPR/First Aid/ AED trainings
• OSHA, Fire safety, BBP, Lifting & Transfers, Client funds. AIDS
• Defensive Driving
• Aegis- Crisis Prevention& De-escalation training
4. What can your program offer that will help with inclusion in the community?
• Residential Supportive Living Program ( 11 homes within communities in Beaufort County)
• Planned Community outings/trips that provide training & opportunities to interact with other individuals in the community
• Employment opportunities with agencies within Beaufort County ( Rec Centers, Goodwill, MCAS)
5. How does the program address and handle conflict and medical emergencies?
Conflicts may arise simply because individuals are tired, hungry or over-stimulated. Our professional staff receive training yearly from certified Aegis trainers. The Aegis training focusses on de-escalation techniques. Medical emergencies may arise due to slips and falls, for example, or a physical condition. Our staff are CPR and First Aid certified; we also have a Registered Nurse on duty to assess medical needs.
