So great how in sync they were with their voices. I saw an interview with Maurice where he said sometimes when people assumed a falsetto lead vocal was sung by just Barry, but it was actually a co-lead vocal with Robin. Their voices just blended so well.

Thank you - I haven't heard this in a long time -- Robin has always been my favorite - and he's featured a bit here -- and even his twin Maurice got some high solos at the end.. fact is, any of these guys could sing just about any note at any moment - but what made them special was that family connection.. so sad that Barry (the oldest/mostly lead) is the only one left... BG's are awesome - and I really appreciate your reactions - to them and others.. look forward to more..

This song was the beginning of Barry singing with his trademark falsetto voice. There was a great documentary about the Bee Gees released this last year that explained it. It was in Miami that the Bee Gees began experimenting with new sounds, piggybacking on the influence of R&B and shows like “Soul Train.” While recording “Nights on Broadway,” producer Arif Mardin asked that someone harmonize while screaming in the background, Maurice remembered. That was the first time Barry sang falsetto. “I was thinking, my god, where is this coming from? I can do this. My whole life I never knew I could do this,” Barry joked. “Everybody’s giving me credit,” Mardin said in the film. “No, he was singing it. I said, ‘Keep on doing it.'” The band soon embraced disco and dance music, making use of Barry’s falsetto, which he wields with almost astonishing ease.

For people who are mainly familiar with their disco era, this is quite a departure, with Barry singing the baritone, Robin singing the chorus alone, and Maurice singing the falsetto's, they were all so multitalented, there will never be another like the Bee Gee's.....RIP Andy💟, Maurice 💟 & Robin 💟 ****LOVED YOUR REACTION****

This is actually the first song in which the high voice was used, it was actually Barry who did the high parts on record and is the one usually associated with the voice, they only really used the high voice for about three years out of a career that lasted like 50 years, only stopped when Maurice died but Barry is still out there and is making an album right now of singers doing Bee Gee songs

FYI: Throughout their career in the '60s//early '70s Barry Gibb sang in a slightly deeper voice. It wasn't until they left Australia & moved to Miami that he discovered the falsetto voice we all know, love & respect. It happened in the studio while they recorded background vocals for Nights On Broadway released in '75. They were more of a pop band early on & after a brief breakup it was none other than Eric Clapton who suggested they head to Miami to tap into the music going on both there & in America at the time (R&B & Disco). He felt they were more R&B than they were pop but had yet to discover this themselves. Great advice & thank you Eric Clapton 😁!!!

Kudos Jayy, for reacting to Nights on Broadway, a fan favorite. You noted “this is a live performance”, which is pertinent because, many acts couldn’t match the sound of the studio, when performing on stage. The top bands were so tight and splendidly focused, it was the same sound but, with the added bonus of seeing it live. Thank you, for keeping this wonderful music fresh in our hearts and minds.

They are fantastic live, sounds the same or better live as recorded. They are mainly a live group and always like performing live. They are my fav. Group. The disc era they used the falsetto a lot, but their 60's songs used no falsetto and was rarely used in songs from the 80's, 90's and 2000's. Barry especially has a huge range and a great chest voice as well as the head voice ( falsetto ).

Aw, gee, Javy!! I love that you love their chest - natural voices Great reaction!!. Maurice took over some falsetto because it was a live show. The studio had Barry try some high falsetto add-ins near and at the end. This song marked the beginning of the use of Barry and his high octave falsetto. So it preceded Stayin' Alive and More Than a Woman, etc. Do you want your ear-gasm?? Check out "Fanny Be Tender With My Love"-- a song they almost never sang live because they were latyering all their vocal skills-- I think I read they did 16 layers. They showedoff their harmonizing and other vocal gifts. Link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2aCjuIGrpoBpq44

This was pre disco. They started the falsetto for Saturday Night Fever sound tract so they could sing any style and often did. It was very short sighted of fans to think that they were a disco band because they were so much more. and hated being thought of as disco singers.

This the first time they sing high in a couple of their lines. Their producer Arif Mardin askwd them if any of them coud "scream" Blaming it on... so Barry volunteered and the falsetto was born. Hope you are ok Jayy. You are very special. God bless you. The high pitch was middle. 50s no falsetto. 70ds yes. Later both. I suggest Immortality sung with Celine Dion and the BeeGees. It's Barry's thought of their music legacy lasting after they are gone. It's really beautiful.

You mentioned how deep they were singing. Until the disco era, all of their songs were in their normal register. This song is transitional - you hear some falsetto mixed in. Their music right before Saturday night fever (75-78) was like this. After Saturday Night Fever, they pretty much always sang in falsetto. Listen to their 60s hit Massachusetts sometimes - great song in their normal voices.
