I use a community feeder that was about 20 yards from the hive. When you said that I moved it to about 100 yards away. Good Tip.

Future video idea - will a newly mated queen lay bees of winter physiology? And how late in the season is too late to requeen?
@beek

Great idea and I'm making a video for tomorrow answering that question about when it's too late to requeen. Join me tonight at 7pm (Every Thur. Central Time) and I'll try and answer your questions. Here's the link: www.honeybeesonline.com/live

I stepped on a queen the other day. I was in the process of requeening that hive so it wasn’t a big deal. However, it was definitely a mistake.

I did one thing wrong and three things right. Wrong was trying to top hive feed too soon and started a robbing event. Things right, made a robber screen. Installed it overnight and then made a screen tunnel to relocated the entrance a second time. Did a quick inspection with pleanty of smoke on top and I still see a good amount of fresh nectar on the combs. Will inspect it in a couple of weeks to confirm. Also set up a bucket that day for distraction. Is that three good?

Did community feeding one fall. Mob scene. The local hornets and yellow jackets approved. The “lifeguards” kept a lookout for anyone walking close by and bombed them. My poor wife had a couple bees lodge in her hair. She wasn’t pleased.

David I have a question I have two brood boxes on several hives should I take the ones out of the bottom brood box that are completely filled and move them up to the second brood box so the bees don’t have that far to travel over the winter and what is your opinion on this the best way to put it thank you, Charlie PA

I had an OwlBox that became a Beebox. The Owlbox was removed but there is a pancake of bee's left that are homeless and queenless. I have been giving them water and alittle bit of honey everyday cause I feel bad for them. Is that ok? or should I leave the Bee's Be? Someone said I should pour Dawnwater on them, yicks. Lastly what would of happened if we just let them live in the Owlbox?

Amazing how in demand these items are! We should be getting another large shipment of our books any day now, but they are available on Amazon. We were floored how quickly the winter bee kinds with candy sold out but ones without candy are available and both include a recipe.

I was wondering 🤔 at what temperature should I vent my hive , I have a screened bottom board I take out when the regular out side temp is 92 not sure if I should do feel like temperature or not do bees know ? ? 🤔 also when below that temp should I have vents open ? I have a top that has 4 little flaps I mostly just leave it open in day time and close at night , it has a inner cover on top and look through/top/ feeder with the vents , second bee hive , first bee hive lost last August to robbing and some might have left home before that , I've much learned alot since then , but any insight would be great And when should I shrink my bee hive hole / front entrance, thanks for all the tips

Backyard beekeeper here in central Florida. In the month of August, I had not seen an issue like a lot of people would think. There are lots of wildflowers blooming, and hive beetles are still a concern because it is so humid down here. Resources are tight until mid November through early January, depending on how the weather will look like for this year. So far, my bees are very strong

From Athabasca Alberta. I did a harvest the other day. The next day i was not quite done with clean up and opened the door to the outside. My garage completely filled up with bees, if I had to guess there was 100,000 bees in there. FYI I have 20 healthy hives. The bees were robbing so bad from many hives that the bees were killing each other. Crazy never saw that before. Is that normal killing each other.

In Northeast PA, the bees have been bringing in large quantities of pollen consistently since early July when I was expecting a dearth. I’m not sure what they are getting into, but it’s a flaky or chunky light yellow. Looks like they experienced a nectar dearth though with the only open nectar cells being their green dyed syrup.

Im a first year beek. I just made ALL the mistakes and my bees lit me up! I thought opening the hive at would be okay. Nope. I usually go out there with only a hood, but that was also a bad idea. I wish I would have seen these videos first. For now on, full battle gear for the month of August. Thanks for all of your insight.
