Thanks so much for this trip down memory lane. My dad was a keen amateur cine film maker, I'd love to help him set up the Eumig P8 projector and play the film's he'd made of the family. Happy days. 🙂

I just received one of the earlier sage green P8 Imperials…. That had seen some humidity at some point, but a good cleaning, a new bulb, new belt, and a fuse… and she works fine. Thank you for the nice overview!

Thanks for this. We recently cleared out my grandparents home and camee across all their old cinefilms and included was this projector (p8m) along with an Admira 8F camera. This will help me get them both working.

Lovely video, really nice to see it working! I was wondering if you had any idea on what the casing is made out of? I`m in the process of cleaning one and want to know what cleaning materials I could use to rid the casing of all the accumulated dirt without damaging it.

Brilliant thank you. I was looking for some info on this model, minus the sound sync, so I can use it to view reels of old footage taken by my uncle who died this year. Really useful

Hi 'BD" Same, my Dad had the "system" and I have his old projector. Found some old cine film at my brothers recently and dragged the old projector out of the shed, not the best place to store it by the way, its a no go so looked at Trademe (in New Zealand) and bought a working earlier model for $5.50 + $45.50 for freight. Viewed the film, very nostalgic. Looking for a spare belt and lamp (not a halogen) to keep it going. Any ideas? Thanks for the video.

I used these instruction to resurrect double 8 movies taken by my father in law who recently passed away. I had an Eumig P8 and the large bulb died after a quarter of an hour. My father in law had a P8 "Nova", in worst state than mine but I managed to make it work since this one is using smaller 12V 100W bulbs. On the command side of the "Nova" , there is a door giving access to the bulb and ... 2 screws allowing to move it in relation to the lens system. Question: I see, for sale, conversion kits to allow a small bulb. Does anyone has experience with these? How do you fit the conversion kit?

Have inherited my father's Eumig P8 (exactly as on your video), however although working mechanically, I can not get the bulb to work. Found 2 seemingly unused bulbs in the case and put those in but still not illuminating? Any advice please?

Well I had the similar type of problem. Maybe the layer of the two pins of the bulbs (+ and -) are a little corroded. Mine were a bid black, so i took a knive (or small sandpaper) and tried to get the black off a bit (BE GENTLE). If the pins are black/corroded the pins do not conduct electricity; if you get the black off a bit and you see the more silverish metal it will conduct again :) I hope this helps!.

@@wester2l Thank you for your advice. I finally found that the metal strip connection that the bulb sits on had dropped slightly and just needed to be bend a little upwards to make contact with the base of the bulb. Now works well. Thank you for your input! Kind regards Peter

Hi I have one. The light and the fan work but the reels are not turning. What's your advice please? Mine also doesn't have the sinking unit on the back!

Sounds like drive belt and could also be wire belts. The drive belts often rot but can be replaced easily. Normally a good supply on ebay. Thanks for watching. Andy.

I just started using mine (bestowed to me from a great Aunt) and it's quite simple to figure out how to thread it. I noticed though it gets really loud the faster you speed it up > is that common or is there something I can do to help quiet it down?
@andrewcunliffe8732

The 'automatic threader' needs to be present for automatic threading - yours is absent! If present it screws on the side, covering the gate and incorporates a couple of guides to steer the film through the gate - the film then needs manually routing under the last 2 rollers en-route to the take-up spool. You seem to completely bypass the final roller (bottom left) which is incorrect and would cause the film to be scratched by rubbing on the casing - the film needs to pass under this roller before looping upwards to the take-up spool.

How do I get the motor working again. I’m sure it’s not running
@beforedigital
3 жыл бұрын
Often the drive belt disintegrates, if this has happen the motor will still run but not drive the mechanism. Drive belts can easily be bought on ebay. If the motor is completely dead then it is a new projector. Hope that helps.
