After 30+ years I unearthed my "eumig Mark S 810 D Lux" and strapped in a 40 year-old movie. It was also running too slow as evidenced by the audio. It has a mechanism quite similar to the one used in your demonstration. I took a closer look and realized that all but one of the bearings you describe are sintered bronze bearings that have simply dried out. Without removing of the clips that hold them in place, I gave each one a couple of drops of 3in oil and allowed it to soak in for a few hours. The flange type bearing behind the shutter wheel also received a drop on each side, applied with a long plastic needle on a syringe. Presto, it's running up to speed - for now. This saved me having to disassemble everything. As it goes, this may not work in all cases, but is worth a try before proceeding to disassemble the shaft assembly. Thanks, Hardy

Thanks. I saw this video and didn't want to go through all this, so I'll try to do the same. But I don't think 3-in-1 is appropriate for this. I plan on using a plain oil because the additives in 3-in-1 could compromise the plastic parts.

It was a joy to find your videos. I bought on the sidewalk, on a corner in Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro a MARK-501. I thought the projector was useless. To my surprise, it works very well. The projector deserved a cleaning. But before this I watched your videos. Thank you.

Hi! I have eumig mark s projector. But now I have a problem. When I'm plug in electricity all of the projector lamps are off but the engine is still running. Can you help me to fix the problem? Thanks

The real problem with the Eumig projectors are the two rubber drive discs. They get worn and the rubber becomes harder with age and causes the slowing down due to slippage that you describe. If you just give them a light sanding finsihed off with a wipe of rubbing acohol the problem will go away for a time. Unfortunately, it always comes back and must be done again after several hours of operation. You've got the well-documented Eumig drive-disc curse, as all Eumig owners have.

Just subscribed...I just purchased the eumig mark 8 used in mint condition. It also needs warning up and after some fresh instrument oil, runs great. I noticed a rather large pickup reel 600ft? On subsequent videos, did u modified it. Removing the top roller top of case would facilitate a 600ft reel. Excellent all around tutorial and admire your patience, re assembling is always a challenge. Cheers from Burlington On.

Hi I'm using the eumig mark s 712. But my light isn't turning on. Could it be broken? Or are there some prerequirements to make it work?

Hi, I have the same projector as in the video. it works perfectly except for one thing: I can't seem to get the shutterspeed right. The shutter closes in the middel of a frame which makes the film look jittery. Anybody that can help me?

Thanks for posting videos, do you know much about the Eumig S905's, I have one that is strugglign to run at a speed it should , even on 18frps, something seems wrong with the Inching knob it has on rear which should disngage when you move projection knob forward, the belt in it seems to be okay, is there another belt? Al the plastic pulley's seem to be running but just not at good enough speed, Any suggestions very welcomed, Thanks Phil

Hi Mate, great useful video, I have a S905 Eumig but as soon as I touch the speed adjust knob, projector stops. And that is when it is not projecting. Also it seems to run better in reverse than forward. The only way I can get it going again so far is to manually wind the drive shaft if that is right term, using the inching knob on the rear of unit. The belt looks okay. I have started to take out the section which is very similar in design as per your video, where the speed control knob is, but there is a circa clip I believe they are called holding it to the selector metal bar, any suggestion how to get that off, very small and what I or my Brother have tried it won't budge. Reason we took it out as there seems very little reisstance from the peice of white plastic that moves in and out behind that knob. So we are thinking maybe a clip behind it or something not right. Also if you don't mind me asking from your experience besides belt & what we are looking at, what else could be causing it to stop like I have described? Thanks in advance. Phil

Useful video. I have a 709d which is similar enough. I watched the three parts and saw the key problem was the claw runner in the nylon cam disk. Mine's the same. When I press the claw away from the shutter disk it all turns pretty smoothly. I managed to get some silicone grease in there using a tiny screwdriver and without any dismantling and it seems to have made a lot of difference. Now I need to clean up the rubber drive disks, so I've ordered some Platenclene (which should be useful for printers etc anyway.) Thanks

Thank you for this comment. I think you have hit the nail on the head. Of course, this also explains why the variable speed control is temperamental! Oh well, I've finished my telecine transfers now, and the projector is effectively a display item (I'm one of those people who never throw anything away).
