Straight edger (Milwaukee M18, with a head that changes from edger to string trimmer) for the driveway and sidewalks. For the flower beds (concrete with lots of curves) I use the string trimmer held upright. The Milwaukee is light enough that it's easy. Still haven't gotten good, though, as my circles around my trees, but I'm getting there. Thanks for another great video, J.B.

I would tend to go with a traditional edger over this tool. WAY better at both power and accuracy. The only advantage I can see is on internal edges where you can't ride on concrete... but those edges are rarely straight anyway and are thus better off to be done with a string trimmer that is better at following curves. I see this more as a power-head tool where it saves me from having another motor to maintain/take up space at the sacrifice of quality. Maybe i'm missing something? I'm told it might have happened once. I do the exact same protocol of starting the 2 cycle then finding my PPE etc while it warms up. ALWAYS let 2-cycles warm up and they'll not betray you.

At 6'8" I have to bend down a bit no matter what tool I use. That being said, my Stihl string trimmer came with a shoulder belt I can attach to the trimmer to make it easier to handle and neraly be able to stand straight up and use. I can operate the trimmer one handed while wearing the belt which also makes walking forward a lot easier. You might check and see if Echo makes a similar shoulder belt. If not, get one from Stihl and connect it to your Echo. Just a thought.

I've been using a cheap Black & Decker corded electric edger, which is basically a circular saw on a stick, for the past 5 years. I don't have a lot of edging to do, and I've moved completely away from gas yard machines since moving down here to Florida from Minnesota, so this was a good alternative to using my string trimmer which just doesn't work as well. I like that it has a guide in the front and a little fin behind the blade that keeps it along the edge of the concrete, as well as three wheels to help keep it stable. The 50' cord I use is a little bit of a hassle, but since I don't have much to do it's easily manageable. I did have to re-solder the wires to the brushes in the motor to keep it working (I did say it was cheap), but since then it's been a real trooper.

I also have a Black and Decker. A friend didn't need it anymore and gave it to me. I wonder if its similar to yours. I don't hate it. It does the job well but it can be tough to use in some areas and the cord can be a hassle.
@djdawso
4 ай бұрын
@@SVW1976 Yes, it's heavy, and the fin in back can keep it from getting close to corners sometimes, and it's super loud (exactly like a circular saw), and the cord can be a little bit of a bother, but aside from that it's kinda OK. And it doesn't need gas, which is a huge thing for me now.

I've used both a string trimmer and an edger to do my lawn edging. It depends on the situation. Usually, an edger is better suited for the first edging of the season or after long intervals. String trimmer is good enough for lighter edging jobs.

What’s the difference between the red armor and the regular Echo oil?
@Athonite
4 ай бұрын
The regular oil (powerblend) is a solid JASO-rated fuel, no problems with it. But Red Armor is truly better - the easiest starts I have ever had with my OPE. Steve's small engine saloon's demonstration was really convincing, he used an endoscope to show it removing existing deposits from the piston and spark arrestor. It does smell kinda funky when it burns, but performance wise I can't complain. Oil is cheap, engine rebuilds are pricey, after all 👍

Which battery do you recommend for a Simplicity 42" Zero Turn with a Kawasaki FR651v? In a pinch, had to get a Duralast Gold from Autozone.

Hey weekend! I don’t work on zero turns at the moment but duralast batteries never steered me wrong! 👍

Good buy, ran one for years and used it commercially back in the day. We had are issues with echo ( thus why i refuce to run them again) but made us alot of $$ All in all. Great homeowner edger, and light commercial. To get started. Can't go wrong. All I run is stihl now. Never let's me down. Good vidieo

Ya lost me on all those steps to get it going. I’ll just click in my battery and pull the trigger.

Oof. I can get mixing gas or having to go to a gas station every once in a while, but to much steps to start a weedeater..... cope harder.
