I also fractured my elbow radial head two days after my fracture orthopedic doctor said to start moving my arm to supination and he tried doing for me and it was so painful! He said I had to endure the pain so for a couple of weeks I was doing it like he said but I was grabbing my hand to move my palm upwards but the pain was horrible, I endured the pain like doctor said. Now my wrist hurts! I went to my follow up appointment and I asked the doctor for physical therapy and he said I didn’t need it because what I’m doing is fine!! Now I realized I was doing it wrong by grabbing my palm and moving my palm to supination. I’m doing your exercises and little by little I’m feeling better.

After getting my cast off and the OK from my consultant to move my arm up and down I was unsure what to do for the best, especially as I have my first physio appointment three weeks away. So, these muscle moving exercises have been a God send for me to begin and take courage and confidence in your very encouraging, gentle series of exercises. I can feel my atrophied/sore bicep muscle feel stretched and grateful and if I persevere, each day with these moves I hope to get more flexion in my elbow. @@anne-mariesvennberg9840 I'm certain it's different for everyone. My bandages came off in about 7 to 9 days and that's when I began using these exercises. I started physical therapy 2 weeks later. hi! how long was your cast on?
@xtherealest
2 ай бұрын
@@tonyevans2088 Only 3 weeks. It was a bike accident, a pretty bad one but I luckily only had a minor elbow fracture so that's why only 3 weeks. And since I only had it for 3 weeks the recovery was much faster so I had full mobility back in maybe like 5 days or so. If you had the cast for a longer time it's gonna take longer to regain your mobility but you really gotta do the exercise. As much as you can, multiple times a day maybe every like 1-2 hours or so and try to rest your hand in a more flexed position it's not comfortable but it's going to help you regain the mobility much faster than if you were sitting or laying down with the arm bent.

@@xtherealest Thanks so much for sharing! Same for me, something came loose in my bike, started to swerve, hit the breaks, and was thrown off. Got a radial head fracture (same for you?), a concussion (wake-up call to always wear a helmet from now on), many bruises and nerves SHOT lol! lady who witnessed it said my neck twisted in a very strange way so I think it could have been a lot worse - scary! The doctor said I should keep the cast on for 2 weeks, still v.painful but want to regain full extension asap. Some people say to start moving it sooner but it is impossible with the cast on, will follow his orders I guess. Glad you're recovered and doing well - not a fun experience but has def put things in perspective!
@xtherealest

@@tonyevans2088 Haha I also had a radial fracture it was pretty much the same for me. But I was wearing a helmet you should've too I bruised my face a lot but I didn't get a concussion because of the helmet, that definitely saved me. The bruises were probably even worse than wearing the cast, I was bruised all around my body I couldn't even sleep at night because however I laid down I was laying on the bruises and it was terrible the first nights I barely slept. You should be glad you're even alive since you weren't wearing a helmet dude. Be careful with that the next time. What I advise you do at least a little bit since you can't move your arm with the cast try to move your shoulder at least a bit so you don't lose mobility in the shoulder too and move your fingers around so you get blood flow in them but the docs probably told you that. I also had I don't know what it's called in english but when it's not broken but it's damaged from the impact I had that on my hip and I almost couldn't walk the first couple days it was crazy. I'm glad both you and I didn't end up worse that that. Do the exercises and trust me you'll have full mobility in no time. Stay strong brother and wear a helmet next time it really ain't no joke it would be a different story probably if I didn't wear a helmet. I still had my face wrapped in bandages because I was bleeding from the injuries but I atleast didn't die lol

I had braces and screws fitted in my left arm for an elbow fracture operation nearly a month ago, and now the cast is off and ready for exercises, My wrist, elbow and shoulder are really stiff, so it's making me feel a bit uneasy about recovering mobility. My surgeon told me I can recover 70% ROM, but in your experience, do surgeons always approach this question very conservatively? People who contacted me said friends who suffered the same injury recovered back to normal within a year. Thanks for the tips.

This is really great, thank you. It’s been two weeks since the dislocation and it became apparent that my range of motion was very limited due to stiffness. I’m wondering: 1. how often should I do these exercises per day? 2. Does the time spent with static elbow movement earlier on limit the full range of movement later on?

YOU ARE AMAZING. SORRY TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE ONE WORKING HAND..OBVIOUSLY. I TRIPPED AND MY FALL RESULTED IN A RADIAL HEAD REPLACEMENT ONE WEEK AGO AND THE OTHER ELBOW IS FRACTURED BUT MOSTLY FUNCTIONAL. I HAVE A BABY AND TODAY I FELT SO HOPELESS RE MY HEALING PROCESS AS MY SLING AND CAST WERE REMOVED TODAY AND THE PAIN HAS BEEN PRETTY INTENSE ESP THE SLIGHTEST OF PRONATION TWEAKS. IN TEARS I SAT DOWN TO PROACTIVELY START MY JOURNEY TO GETTING THIS ELBOW MOVING. YOUR VIDEO WAS SOOOO HELPFUL. IT GUIDED ME SO PERFECTLY AND MOVEMENTS I THOUGHT I COULDNT DO I MANAGED TO DO. EVEN THOUGH IM BOOKED FOR PHYSIO NEXT WEEK, I WILL CONTINUE WITH YOUR VIDEOS DAILY. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU MADE MY WEEK!
