Thank you so much for this video! This is the only one I can find on KZitem explaining how to strum and play chords from a classical guitar angle. Cannot wait for more videos to come!

Again another great lesson. Bradford is right... don't be a classical guitar snob. Learn them darn chords. I've been playing and studying for years, you never stop learning. I would venture to say that 98% of all music written for guitar contains chord structures, if not more. I started off learning classical and I can safely say that every pieces I have ever learned had "cord structures", whether comprised of just two notes or the whole neck. Chords aren't just found in folk or rock and roll tunes. They are also in classical music... does the word Barre strike a "CHORD". Bradford thank you for another fantastic presentation.

Funny, guess I'm lucky. I've yet to meet a Classical guitarist snob. I see that comment from time to time though. Yes, learning chords are important no doubt. Learning everything you're able to in music no matter what genre is important.

I highly appreciate the work you do through on this channel and many of your lessons are excellent. But here I cannot (completely) agree. I also play jazz, for many years. In the jazz guitar world, which is mostly build on chords and visual shapes, it is disastrous to see how chord-centric thinking and education ruins the musical understanding and creates inferior music. This is just an example, there is a lot more to say about this. I could write a book about that. I am strongly convinced that pure classical guitar training, combined with the study of theory and harmony is the way to go for a student. Oh yes, finally you are also able to do a more popular style of accompaniment or play any style of music, but that is the end result of the process, not the beginning.
