@@JennyMitichHow do you achieve your minimum protein amounts at first if you are only eating when you are hungry? I just started a few days ago and feel pretty satiated most of the day but I’ve been pushing myself to eat two big meals to get my minimum macros in. I’m not a big meat eater so it’s been a little challenging.
@JennyMitich
7 ай бұрын
@@sally0404 that’s a great question! In the very beginning your appetite will probably be pretty low, and that is completely normal. Some people use a high-quality protein powder to get to the minimum protein goal, but as long as you’re increasing the protein a little bit every day, you will get there eventually. You could also increase the amount of lean meats you’re eating and then add in some fat if you need to.

@JennyMitich

@@sally0404 it’s all good! You won’t get sick, but if you don’t get enough protein, you could experience some fatigue, so it’s good to aim for a minimum. But it doesn’t have to be militant or exact, I aim for 130 g per day and most days I exceed that but then there’s some days where I only get 100 g.

Great guide, but the captions are really distracting me from retaining what you're saying. I also think going from keto/ketovore is MUCH easier to ease into carnivore. I would have been unable to do carnivore straight from S.A.D. I had to ease into it from LCHF/keto because I had meat aversions/wasn't that into meat & was unable to eat much beef. Now meat is just about all I eat (besides fish, eggs, and only very small amounts of mature cheese)

That’s a great question that I don’t have a really good answer to. There aren’t a ton out there unfortunately. What can one drink doing the carnivore diet? It is a topic that is almost never discussed.
@JennyMitich

Mainly water, I do regular and sparkling. I also drink decaf coffee, plenty of carnivore still drink coffee, so I don’t think that’s a big deal. You could also drink tea. There are some carnivores that still drink diet soda, so it really just boils down to personal preference I think. Obviously, no drinks with sugar in them.

My wife and I are both in our 50s. We started the carnivore lifestyle 2 months ago. I can say without hesitancy, it's been a game changer in many ways, some I did not anticipate. I won't go into a lot of detail, but I can say it's been a complete paradigm shift. I sleep much deeper and awake alert and ready to go! My body is no longer achy in the morning and my mind is clearer. I stopped all sweets and alcohol, day one. Never looked back. Sweets are no longer appealing. In fact, you could put a plate of donuts in front of me, and it may as well be a plate of rocks. No temptation, whatsoever! Also, there is a heightened realization at just how menacing the food industry truly is. The realization that they are literally poisoning us becomes palpable. There's no turning back!

I’m almost 30 days in and I want to add my thoughts. 1.) Bart Kay says to take 6 weeks to transition from SAD to carnivore. I wish I did that instead of cold turkey. I would do carnivore + fruit and slowly reduce the fruit over that time. 2.) I was drinking way too much water. It was removing too many electrolytes. I now only drink when I’m thirsty. I went from 32+ oz a day to 16 or less. Yes add in a pack of electrolyte mix and if you can do dairy a piece of cheese with each meal as it has sodium and calcium which will help.

@@Peezay3000 I felt terrible the first 4 or 5 days. I’m guessing the keto flu. But also was not supplementing with electrolytes and I was drinking way too much water. I was constantly tired. I got past that but then started having really bad palpitations. Once I reduced my water intake and started eating cheese with each meal it has really helped. I’m about 98% carnivore. I’m getting probably 10 carbs a day just through some of the extra dairy and things I’m eating which I’m not worried about.

I totally agree with you about transitioning slowly from SAD to carnivore. And I agree with you about water intake, a lot of people have to learn what the feeling of actual thirst feels like. Hello! Meat aversions and food boredom are common in the beginning. I would try eating only when hungry, but if you are only eating once a day or every other day, I would schedule yourself 2 meal times and eat then. The hunger cues and meat aversion will improve after the first month.

I deal with my sugar cravings like this, my only demon in this diet. 95% cocoa bar is like eating chalk I get a piece of 95% and a piece 70% cocoa bar and let them both melt together in my Mount and it absolutely curbs the chocolate or sugar cravings! It’s not the worst fix by far with very little sugar, maybe a gram or two at most. For me, it’s a milestone because I use to eat enough sweets for a dozen people. 1-2 grams of sugar “for me” on a carnivore diet is just fine. It absolutely keeps the gnawing feeling of withdrawals at bay. The sugar withdrawals were/are so much worse than when I quit a 20 year smoking habit.

So how does this diet affect gut bacteria? I remember yrs ago I dated a guy I’d dated as a teenager. When we reconnected he was eating carnivore and his breath literally smelled like the meat he was eating was rotting in his gut. I actually done some research on that afterwards and read that eating a lot of protein can in fact cause bad breath. I’m also curious about stomach acidity. I have hypothyroidism and I’ve read that hypo patients often have low stomach acid. My blood type is O negative and I know according to the blood type diet O’s are supposed to eat meat because of high stomach acidity. Would you recommend taking HCL supplements?

@JennyMitich Milk Diet is a treatment book, based on the observations of Dr. Porter who spent over 41 years permanently curing or modifying disease in over 18,000 of his patients with the use of raw milk. This treatment dates back to the time of Hippocrates. This book also details the composition of raw milk, giving explanation to how it is able to offer a safe alternative to conventional treatments for chronic disease. The healing is dramatic and should not be feared but welcomed, for it is a true healing, not the suppression of symptoms.Also, organic and grass-fed cow’s milk contains higher amounts of beneficial antioxidants, such as vitamin E and beta-carotene, which help reduce inflammation and fight oxidative stress

I’m 74. Started Carnivore on 2nd Jan - 2 days after my birthday. I’m 5’11” and on weighing myself I need to lose 80lbs. After 18 days I’m down 13.7lbs. I have a reduced appetite as I’ve got older. And following bowel cancer in 2021 (don’t know if there’s a connection). There’s no way I could eat that amount of meat per day. 1-4lbs. I can have a decent breakfast (in my opinion 😬). 3 rashers and 3 eggs. Sometimes 5/6 hrs later I can eat a steak (227g) or a chicken breast or a pork chop. A lot of times I struggle to finish but might eat the leftovers 3-4 hrs later. Once I actually fancied a steak for breakfast! With a fried egg! On day 13 I had annual bloods taken (to monitor chronic kidney disease and check for tumour markers). Result? Kidney function almost normal!!!!! Liver function normal. Bloods normal. On week two I emptied all my store cupboards. Gave away to family and local food bank. Something just switched in me when I learned of carnivore watching a KZitem with professor seyfried. I was a lover of cooking and baking (still made meals for my family living in their own homes 😂 - baked cakes and bread to give away). No more. I’m cooking for one! Thanks for your tips. Great summary Jenny! I am on day 74 of a 75 day challenge & setting up for a January -21 day “next step”. I have been low carb/keto for many years. Switching to carnivore has been a new level of awareness of my emotional eating. At 63, I have lost many friends/family far too early from obesity-related preventable disease. 😢So very sad for their families.

When i went Carnivore i felt great til abour a month into it and then really bad explosive toliet occassions and it was most likley due to keeping my daily coffee into my diet rather than keto flu. So if i was to redo my carnivore start Id include eliminating coffee too becasue iys surprisingly easy to eliminate everything when you can at once. Just start and live honestly and see the real difference because we need coffee to counter the fatiguing carbs but not on a carnivore diet. No carbs measn no need for caffeine to function.

Good for you, Jenny. Do you think your amazing results are less due to just eating meat, and more due to you cutting out processed food, junk carbs, added sugars and alcohol? Love meat. Just finished my second attempt, almost hospitalised after a week... great weight loss, 8kg, but chronic diarrhoea and dehydration... rockets of water, my sphyncher and lower stomach still ache a week later... was crapping out bits I need to live. Also, beautiful steak started making me feel nauseous... on the week, ended up doing a 48h fast, and then a 72 to day 8, due to dying of diarrhoea etc.

Hello! Well, for some sure, but for me, I wasn't eating any processed junk before I started. I was eating lean meats, fruits, veggies, and a little bit of gluten free grain like quinoa and rice. I recommend upping your electrolytes, that helps, and for you, since you are having hardcore keto flu symptoms, maybe try easing into it next time and dont go cold turkey. My keto flu was 4-6 weeks and in hindsight I wish I had gradually reduced my carb intake.
@stephengallagher2209

@@JennyMitich Thanks for the tips. I was drinking tonnes of electrolytes. Maybe easing in is better. I might have picked up a gastric flu at the same time. I did three months before, and it gave me diarrhoea for a while... but nothing like that. Unslakable thirst and cotton-mouth too. Really strange. Back on balanced diet now, gained 3kg back in water. Not sure if I'll try again. Beautiful, grass-fed Irish rib eye and was making me feel ill. I don't want to go off meat!
@JennyMitich
4 ай бұрын
@@stephengallagher2209 the aversion to meat is also a common keto flu symptom. Around week three, I couldn’t even look at another steak. That improves. But yeah, it may have been a stomach bug because that’s a pretty hard-core reaction to keto flu. If you ever want to try it again, I definitely recommend easing into it, but low-carb and keto are just as good. As long as you’re eating real, whole food, I think you’ll be in good shape for the most part😀😀😀

Hi Jenny, My name is Rick and I am 63 years old and I have been going back and fourth on how to change my eating habits. Since I've started watching Dr. Ken Berry I have been researching the carnivore diet and trying to decide if this way of eating is right for me. My problem is I hate to cook and it does seem that you must do that so I am soul searching to get over it since I have cooked for my family for years. Another point I've decided to make the change to this way is because I have type 2 diabetes, chronic arthritis and emotional up's and downs. Thank God I do love eggs and meat so this one is it for me. I can't thank you enough for sharing this video as it reinforces my decision to change my way of eating to the carnivore way of eating. God Bless you and I will look forward to more of your videos. Thank you 🙂

Hello and welcome! You know, cooking on the carnivore diet is really easy. I like to cook up a bunch of meats all at once, and then I have leftovers for days. We cook steaks in the air fryer, and I always have hard boiled eggs around. I think you are going to enjoy carnivore if you love meat & eggs, that’s basically what I eat every day😀

Think of the most healthiest diet and then think of what diet would be the total opposite = Carnivore Diet Throughout the years there have been similar diets ( South beach, keto , all low carb diets ) these diets are not meant to be on for the rest of your life, they are meant to be short term, to help people loose weight. People like it because fats and butters are satiating. I recommend scheduling an appointment with a registered dietitian, do a healthy and very balanced diet. @JennyMitich
7 ай бұрын
Hello! The minimum protein is a general measurement, you could also do .8 g per pound of ideal weight, that would bring you to 152 g of protein per day which is really easy to hit. You could also find a high-quality protein powder. But for example, 26 ounces of chicken wing meat is 144 g of protein, I eat that in one sitting for dinner. A 15 ounce sirloin is 130 g. so once you get used to the style of eating, you can very easily hit 150 to 200 g of protein per day, just takes some time to get used to👍🏻
