As a south American in which being late is basically the norm here, i had a lot of trouble getting used to a german teacher i had due to fact that he would scold me if i was even five minutes late. He had a really fun but terrifying tradition that the homework should be on his table when he sat on his chair at the beginning of the class, but the catch is until he arrived at the door and sat on his chair, it was fair game. He would sometimes open the door and as some students would panic and run towards his table, he would start sprinting towards it. Funniest “im about to get fucked “moment i had with him. Amazing teacher and a beloved friends nowadays

@TheArklyte

Isn't 6 minutes enough time for 3 trains to pass the station on TGV and Shinkansen lines(there the window between trains is down to 3 minutes due to sheer load and they're trying to force even more trains on the lines)
@1bullneck1
23 күн бұрын
@@TheArklyte Then the train that is supposed to arrive 3 minutes later either also gets delayed, or the first train has to give way to the second train, meaning it's even more than 6 minutes late.
@TheArklyte
23 күн бұрын
@@1bullneck1 pretty much. One delay can cause delay in whole system. That's why japanese are trying something as insane as maglev - they simply have no more room for "normal" trains on old infrastructure as they have no more room in cities to allow more trains to approach the stations and the spacing between trains is so low that there hardly any more that can be squeezed in in the same timeframe. And if they're going to build new one, then all the terraforming overshadows the price difference between high speed and magnetic rail by order of magnitude. As far as I've heard Germany is facing the american issue with high speed rail - you upgraded normal rail to handle high speed trains, but you run cargo trains on same rails thus passenger trains are stuck waiting in line(plus I don't recall cargo lines in Germany being upgraded to allow doublestack cargo).
@1bullneck1
23 күн бұрын
@@TheArklyte There is no double stack cargo in germany, and yes, they use the same rails. They're building new rails constantly, but there are also more trains on these rails, totally negating the positive effects of new rails in some areas.

DB jokes will never stop being funny to me. I've visited Germany once in my life back in 2011 - my girlfriend at the time was meeting me at the Munich airport and she was coming in by train from another city. First thing that happens when I step out of the arrival zone, I find out that her train broke down and got delayed, and I have to wait for her an extra two hours. Never change, DB 😆

Sadly where I live being less than 10 minutes late is on time. I once waited for a bus that was either 9 minutes late or 6 minutes early before I got there. Weirdly it seems that most of the other buses are on time in my area. It's just that one. Except that one time that the once every 30 minutes bus just didn't show up. Luckily an express bus was able to take me somewhere close to my place. Both google maps and the transit website have their own schedules, and neither of them are correct. (I live in a medium American city that has the bare minimum standard of decent transit because a big event 20 years ago forced us to get a good transit system.)

I got off airplane in FRA and the luggage was 45 minutes late getting off the aircraft. Finally it came to the conveyor and a rushed to get to my train at the fernbahnhof.... I was exactly on time for the train... ran onto it, sat down and looked up to realize it was the wrong train number. Got off the train and 10 minutes later the CORRECT train came. So if everyone is late, then no one is late. It was a frustrating day... that 10m delay made me miss a connection in mannheim and that caused me to take a regional train south... a 2 hour trip turned into 8 hours of stress.
