This was the fourth tower.
After having lunch in the churchyard we went and rang at Billingshurst. A 14cwt eight cast by Mears and Stainbank mostly in 1965 with the fourth in 1959 and the tenor in 1964. These were the best bells on the outing by a long shot! I enjoyed the back four being rung up in peal and also ringing Call Changes and Grandsire Triples.
We attempted the Whittingtons peal composed by the Devon call change ringers. Unfortunately we had to come back into rounds after a ringer being bored from the composition. Nonetheless, a good standard of ringing was achieved. Thank you for Euan Thomas for allowing me to use his photo of the church taken by Luca Greenslade (Ringer Luca651) I think we did justice on this fine ring of eight!
