Another great video Puggy! Love all these hawkers here!!! Wow, never knew you can mix Teochew kueh - soon kueh, peng kueh - with eggs and fry them together. Interesting and it looks yummy! Wish I could eat the big fluffy fish balls, used to be my favorite! Whoa, always love it when you feature vegetarian stalls, appreciate it very much. Never had Zhu Jiao Kou either, seems like it is made from black eye peas from what I can hear her say. She is also educating you with her vegetarian food, how sweet and funny. Glad you patronize her stall Puggy. Well, the hawker that gets a star and captures my heart is the chai bee hoon lady. Looks like she is in pain as she kept using her arm to support her body in order to stand while cooking? She is also hunching, oh my that poor lady and yet she can work so fast, operating the stall all by herself. My heart goes out to her. If I were there, I will buy up the whole stall so she can at least go home early and rest for the day!!! Plus she is so generous, gave you a lot of food. Good for you Puggy for always supporting these hawkers. Love this video. Thanks again for another entertaining video.👍😁😜

Hahaha.. she was like.. you want this? Home made.. and I was like yes to everything 😂 bet those behind me was getting a little impatient. But I really hate to dapao.. it really discounts what it's meant to really taste like by 50%.. the Zhu jiao kou is basically savoury cake with sorta like glutinous rice ingredients in it.. lots of white nuts.. I had it for supper. I got almost $30 food for myself.. lasted all the way till 2am 😂😂😂

This 新路 fishball noodle is a far cry from the original Meiling Street one. Because this uncle (original owner son in law) use the water that soak the fishball to cook the noodles, hences making it extremely salty.

@ Piggypuggy Hello Bro, your mention of Margaret Drive Fish Ball Noodle Stall brought back, many fond memories......it was very popular indeed @ M. Drive Food Centre and others include, Western Food, Shanghai Dumplings, Zhi Char, Roasted Meat, Satay and the Dessert Stall. The Popiah Stall in the Coffee Shop beneath the Oriental Emporium was popular too and nearby is the Wet Market (Dome Shape) which had some good eateries as well.....gone are the good old days, huh ☹️ Though a Hokkien myself but never knew about the customary practice mentioned by the lady.....stepping on the lotus n tortoise cakes when a baby reaches one year of age.....thanks for sharing 👌👍😎 I reckon, it was a fruitful trip for you with all those packages of glorious food 😆😋😍 I ♥️ the long kau flour fritters too and it goes well with kopi. The other one, has some glutinous rice at the centre.... sorry, don't know what it's called Have a great Saturday Evening and a wonderful Sunday, bro.....😎

Most are of retirement age. Even the 2nd generations are in their 60s.. many of them treat the hawker centre as their home. Their sense of belonging. Many doesn’t know what to do if they’re kept at home. It’s no longer about earning money.. they just seek to live out their lives the only way they know how.. but the thing is.. many of them are just cheerful happy.. as long as they are healthy without any burden

Fried Ku Chai Kueh with egg is found also in South Vietnam as a Street Food by Teochew immigrants and is called Banh He. Quite often often found with street vendors who also sell fried carrot cake which is called Bot Chien. Main difference with Singaporean versions is that they usually let it swim in fish sauce and a tangy carrot and daikon salad. Really delicious.
