I have this mic myself . I found the sweet spot for the camera I use and marked the wheel so I can find it with no problem . I find it is a great bang for me buck . It is not hard on batteries either . I have used the same batteries since last November . I do use cheap batteries also . It gives me that wireless freedom with out killing the bank .

The only other thing to mention is the adjustment screw on the receiver to adjust the fm signal. If the signal gets messy, all one has to do is take a small flat head screwdriver to adjust accordingly... The white noise that it creates, could possibly be fixed in post with CEP / Adobe Audition or some other audio clean-up software...

Wondering if you could recommend a good but affordable wireless mic to assist me recording breakdance tutorials. As you can imagine I need to move a lot and breath heavy at times. I also record outside, there can be background noise and can't be super close to the camera. If you take the time to hit me back with your thoughts and your affiliate link, I'll happily purchase it from amazon through your link

In my experience, this is a very noisy mic system. If you don't mind filtering out white noise in post, it's adequate, but you're also working with reduced frequency response (max at 12kHz), so you really do lose a lot of quality. That said, it WILL get the job done, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than amateur work or on location slating or note taking.

Dear Jacob, may i ask a question please. If i bought two of these, could i combine two receivers outputs into one mini jack port? - - - that way i could have two people talking?
@TheJacobReview
6 жыл бұрын
Yes you would just need 2 1/4inch to 3.5mm adapters and then 1 3.5mm female splitter to 1 3.5mm male. That should work in theory but I have no personal experience with this method.
@DiyEcoProjects

Hi, many thanks for your reply, appreciate it. Reading that and visualising 2x 1/4 to 3.5mm adapters into >>> Y Stereo Splitter with 2 x 3.5mm Female to 1 x 3.5mm Male jack. This is worth a try. The other consideration im having is second hand zoom h1 + 2 mics. Editing in post production. Just getting into this so start of a new journey. All the best to you, kieron uk
@DiyEcoProjects

hi, actually doing a bit more research: apparently you dont need to do this. All you need is two transmitters, and one receiver module, plus its 1/4 to 3.5mm jack. So both transmitters can be picked up by the one receiver. The small hole is for self tuning (needle screw driver), so i suspect people who say this is a crap product havent tuned it.

So i wasnt going to buy tjis microphone i was actually goung to buy the "Fifine 20-Channel UHF Wireless Lavalier Lapel Microphone " that goes around for about $30 but i have 2 questions. So i have a "Powershot SX530 HS Canon" which is a camera that unfortunely has no audio jack but is there a fix for this like some sort of adapter ?? And also since my camera wont always be accessible, i would be willing to use my LG to record but is there any extra things like adapters i would need to get in order to record videos on my LG with the microphone like the one in your video ?? I just need the specific names of anything i would need to make this work if there are any, thank you ! 🔥

I'm curious to know how it would handle in some of my videos. I play VR games and am constantly moving and breathing heavier than I should, and I really don't want that stuff picked up. Currently I'm using a lavalier that plugs into my phone (on my most recent video) and it sucks. What are your thoughts Jacob? EDIT: I'm also considering the MicJ 044 and just plugging that into my phone, do you think I will suffer any audio degradation since it's recording from my s4?
@TheJacobReview
8 жыл бұрын
I would say to just not go with a lav period. Pick up a Takstar sgc-598 shotgun mic instead. It's $25 and will give you better coverage of the audio in your space plus not get any unwanted noise of your clothes rubbing or you breathing heavily.
@Talamander
8 жыл бұрын
I've thought of that, but then when I turn away from the mic wouldn't it sound like complete crap?
@TheJacobReview
8 жыл бұрын
It would if you turned away, unless it were directly above you or something. In your case a lav would more than likely be the way to go for videos like that; this is a different Jacob by the way :3 Lavs with receivers tend to experience more degradation, but from close up it shouldn't really make too much of a difference in my opinion. Neither of us are too experienced with picking up audio while moving around everywhere; we typically plan shots to be still XD In your case trial and error may be the best way to find out what works best, it is possible to remove breathing sounds in post (kzitem.info/news/bejne/mG-DmYCIiZl6bII) but there will be so much going on for you that it would be very hard. Two audio interfaces may work, like an on-camera shotgun mic and an off camera one across the room connected to an audio interface, but that would be expensive. This is a tough one!
@TheJacobReview
8 жыл бұрын
But in the same breath, if your room is small enough then that Takstar may pick up audio reverberation throughout the room, making it sound a little better when turned away from it. Just food for thought :3

@TheJacobReview

How do you get your audio to be so good in this video using this lav mic?
@TheJacobReview
7 жыл бұрын
ReactionLAB we didn't really use any post processing on the audio, but we definitely could have and it would have made it sound a lot better. Just keep the audio levels as low as you can, keep in mind proximity and line of sight from transmitter and receiver and play around with noise reduction with audition, audacity or premiere pro. Do all of that and we thing this mic is pretty good. Granted it is 13$, so obviously it isn't the best. But for 13$ it's very good in our opinion.

@TheJacobReview
7 жыл бұрын
for something like that it is better to get a field recorder with an omni-directional pickup pattern. A cheap way is to just hold a phone like you would normally hold one but be recording the sound on it or to buy a zoom h1 which is $100 USD. When recording anything live like that I would never trust a lav without there being another mic to back it up.
