**Once you've made the crust and sliced and cored your apples, PRE-HEAT your oven to 375˚F/190˚C then, while it's warming up, follow the rest of the steps.

INGREDIENTS
#1 - THE CRUST (makes 5 crusts that can be frozen)
**You CAN use refrigerated pie dough (not frozen dough or pie shells Please!) but this homemade crust is FAR superior and really helps make this pie AMAZING. Plus, it's not that hard to make!**
5 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
2 cups Shortening
1 Large Egg + water (see video)
#2 - THE PIE
Spice Blend:
1 cup Splenda or Sugar (or a blend)
1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1 3/4 tsp Cinnamon
Dash of Salt
10 Apple Blend:
4 Tart Apples (Granny Smith)
4 Sweet Apples (Golden Delicious)
4 Tart-Sweet Apples - 2 Types (eg: 2 Fuji & 2 Pink Lady's)
If some of your apples are small you may wish to add an apple or 2
French Apple Pie Crumb Topping
1 stick of Chilled Butter
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/2 cup of packed Light Brown Sugar
Dusting of Cinnamon
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Oven Temp is 375˚F/ 190˚C
*First Bake (covered - see video) 45 minutes
*Second Bake (uncovered - see video) 5-7 minutes watching carefully so that your topping does not get too dark or burn. Remember, the cinnamon dusting will naturally make the topping look a little darker.
*This will yield a pie with tender, but very slightly firm, apples. If you want your apples super soft, add 3-5 minutes to the FIRST bake.
