Really can't go wrong with any of them. I'm extremely happy with my Active. The Mosmatic rip off I was using by Ridge Washer before I bought the Active personally I thought was a little bit uncomfortable. Something about the shape has kind of not great in terms of ergonomics and weight balance, whereas the Active weight balance is PERFECT.

The ball bearing mechanism is actually pretty ingenious. The underlying purpose is to make it easier to hold down the trigger; the ball bearing applying the same force in both directions, so it requires less force to keep holding.

Thanks for reviewing the top 4 short guns. I've had my eye on the new Active and really appreciate you doing the tare down. Note my MTM SGS 28 is all stainless steel, the triger assembly is cast stainless, not "zinc plated steel." The only non ss metal is the bronze cap nut to access the triger spring & needle valve... I had a non swiveled McKillans I purchased 5 yrs ago. Good shortie until it started acting up, sputtering & spitting. Opended it up to find the inlet tube to be 3/4 clogged with rust. The inlet tube was chromed steel, not stainless steel as McKillan advertised at the time! I replaced the inlet tube with 304 stainless steel and added a $26 Mosmantic live swivel; gun swivels like butter under pressure, & no more rust clogging the needle valve. Passed the McKillans on to my brother who just purchased the Active 2.0. The OG Spec is very nice, it's just not $200 nice with that better functionality. Think I'll wait on purchasing the new Active gun to see how it holds up, appears to be to many external moving triger parts for my liking.

Mosmatic hands down, the smooth live swivel alone makes it the winner. It takes out all the kinks in the hose and makes the user experience far better and only the people who own one or have used one will understand. No matter how high quality or kink free your hose is, it will still tangle and twist up abit while you walk around and wash the car. The Mosmatic is the only one that can tackle that issue super smooth and easily. It's like comparing 2 similar cars but one is silky smooth while driving and the other one can still get you to where you want, it just won't be as smooth and enjoyable but still does the job, if you love detailing and things that are just made with precision and that just works flawlessly, there's no comparison, mosmatic takes hands down

By hand,use some polish compound and go easy. Same for navigation screen. Usually is like plastic Piano trim is exterior, like between the doors? Use a foam pad and polish it,don’t go for too long as it’s plastic and you can heat it up and make it worst. For screen use your fingers with an piece of foam/rag and don’t push too hard. Deep scratches would not come off On trim you have a thin layer of clear coat, so, don’t go too far Don’t try to go for perfection Light scratches may come off

Question. Can you use these guns with a garden hose and foam cannon? ~Great vid🥂
@BigBear--
Жыл бұрын
There's an important point he ignores in this video. If you plan on using any of these with higher powered pressure washers, say up to 4200 psi, then the swivel choice and trigger force becomes even more important. If the swivels are harder to turn under lower pressure, they will be much harder to turn at higher pressures. The only gun not effected by pressure changes in the swivel design is the Mosmatic. Their ball bearing swivel designs are not effected by pressure changes. Same goes for the initial trigger pulls...when under higher pressures that initial trigger pull needed to open the valve initially will require a bit more force than with lower pressures.
@imjoshv
Жыл бұрын
Yea i agree with that. The swivel on the mosmatic is 100% superior than any of the others, Its a huge difference. However, for me and many people detailing cars we arent using that powerful of a pressure washer so the added benefits of that swivel become not quite as important especially when comparing the cost
@BigBear--
Жыл бұрын
@@imjoshv I get that OG version is over the top in price. I with they'd sell it without the Mosmatic 1/4" Quick Connect on the front. That would drop it's price down another almost $60. One suggestion I could make though is that you could buy the Mosmatic swivel separately for around $30-35, and add that to any gun you prefer, unfortunately the standalone swivel is a little longer than the built in version. Which is why I'm sorta suffering the buyers decision right now. I already own the MTM Aqualine SG-35 gun with built in swivel, and while it feels nice with no pressure, on my belt driven gas pressure washer at over 4000 psi it is still tough to turn, even with the much heavier and beefier 3/8" steel wrapped hose. So I'm debating between the OG Mosmatic ($192), the regular purple Mosmatic with the longer built in swivel ($129 w/out mosmatic quick connect, $175 w/ mosmatic quick connect), or the new Active Stubbie ($80). Just an FYI, I have multiple pressure washers I'd be using this with. A 4200 psi @ 4+ GPM belt driven gas unit. A Greenworks Pro 2700 psi electric unit. And a third electric one which I haven't yet settled on, it'll either be the Greenworks Pro 2300 from Lowe's, or the HF Portland 1750 psi. I bought the Portland as I liked your initial test results, however after the updated video where you get much worse results, I wanted to buy and test one myself (it's the newer sku #63654, vs the other/older unit u tested which would have been the #63655). If I can't get close to 1100-1200 psi at around 1.7/1.8 GPM out of it, I'll return it and get the Greenworks Pro 2300. Ideally I want at least 1200-1400 psi at anywhere from 1.5-2.0 GPM out of these smaller electric units. One day I will get a proper electric, poly chain driven unit, with Auto Start/Stop that can put out up to 4000-5000 psi at 4-6 GPM. But they're like $3,500+, and 230/460V @ 35-60 Amps.

The timing on your posts and what I am currently looking for is nutty! I am literally sitting here trying to figure out what model I need. Watching through now. Thanks as always! Your content is super informative and straight to the point.

Paid $103 for the regular Mosmatic, been using it for 2 years, it is very solid, that may have been a better comparison compared to the OGverpriced one

Been using the MTM SGS28 for a while, solid handle. I abuse it daily and it hasnt failed me yet.

The OG spec seems like the best overall. Longer lasting due to better construction, rated for higher pressure as well. Then you add in the fact that it has the best swivel. I think the best BUDGET is McKillans (it kind of sucks though I got rid of mine pretty quick), personally I would not buy this one for 15 dollars more the Active is just a better buy. Best VALUE is the Active, close to the feel of the OG Spec at half the price. Best overall is clearly the OG Spec, but you are going to pay for it.

It is too funny whenever I hear people talk about “the best swivel”. It’s a dam swivel. Both MTM and mosmatic swivels…..swivel. Some people make it seem like there is a night and day difference between both swivels
