Great video Pan! Here is a little history on the back story of the short gun for pressure washing. Not a lot of people know this stuff. I don't get much credit for all of this, but I'm telling you this is how it happened. I wish I knew it would take off. I would have taken more risk than I did and protected my ideas. The first thing that not a lot of people know is that pressure washers imported into the US are not allowed to come with a short gun. There is a legal minimum length they must come with or can't be approved for sale in the US and many other countries. It's a safety and liability issue kind of like amber markers on US cars. It wasn't until about 2014/15 that the short gun started becoming a thing. Now there were some Suttner, MTM available in the Pro Pressure Washing world at places like KleenRite, but they weren't popular, especially with quick disconnect use. Most of us that were using a pressure washer got the garden hose out or filled up a bucket to clean wheels the old fashioned way. Using a 36" wand was not practical for the full cleaning process. At the time I had a Kranzle K1122TST, and I was trying to figure out how to put quick disconnects on everything so I could break it down and put it away. I also wanted to be able to switch and take the long part of the wand off and add a foam cannon. We didn't have all the fancy fittings we have now, so I was using all kinds of adapters and ugly brass versions from General Pump and MTM. They were hard to find. Next came the short gun. The first one that we were using was the MTM M407. It is basically an ugly version of the non-swiveling SG28. It was a game changer, but I still liked to rinse the car with a wand. I bought all the wands that I could find on the market. They were all terrible. I forget exactly what I was ordering, but I set-up a wholesale account with a pro pressure washing place. I was fed up with wands, but I threw a wand in my cart that I saw on the site to try out. It was from a company I had never heard of called Mosmatic. Now, the stars must have been in alignment that day because there are about 200 different combinations of how you could configure a Mosmatic wand. I accidentally ordered it exactly correct. I can't explain to you how much of a miracle that was. Even after I figured out the right combo, people were ordering the wrong one for years after trying to get a better price. That wand, and the Mosmatic/Suttner stuff probably wouldn't be here offering this stuff today had I not fumbled into that wand. Well the wand had a problem, "How the heck do we get a QD fitting on it?" It had a nozzle protector that blocked access to the female NPT head. I put some soap on the protector, pulled down past the head nut, put the 1/4" QD on, then pulled the protector back over to give us a clean look. Now...we could pop the tip off and switch between long wand set-up for rinsing and short gun only for foam cannon and wheel cleaning. We were still using a hodge-podge of brass and stainless fittings. That is also when 14mm vs. 15mm M22 fittings started to become a problem for people buying cheap Ryobis and SunJoes that were trying to wash their cars with them. Now that I had a Gun in the MTM M407 and 20" Mosmatic wand, I wanted to figure out how to get my hose to stop get all jumbled. I bought a Mosmatic swivel that only came in G or BSPP/BSPT threads. I ended up with 6 fittings to get the 2 1/2" long swivel on the end of the hose. We had about 7" of bulk hanging off the end of the hose just to get a darn swivel on there. But...my hose wasn't kinking up any longer. Next was when I gave up trying to send people links where to buy all this stuff. I decided I needed to put all of this stuff together into a package. At that same time, I called Mosmatic about something they had in their catalog. There was no photo, just a model and description. It said it had an integrated swivel. That sounded amazing, but Jaime from Mosmatic thought I was nuts. He is now a good friend. "You don't want a swivel built in, and you shouldn't be using QDs." I fought him and convinced him to bring one in. I think it cost me about $400 for shipping, duties, and taxes to import from Switzerland. He said they never had one here because they would never recommend them. Mosmatic had to make one. They didn't stock it anywhere. If the swivel fails, the gun fails was their take. Well, that gun was the best darn thing I had ever seen, and it took about 4" of bulk off the end of the hose. I then started selling the $1575 pressure washer package that I didn't think anyone would buy. Boy was I wrong. That first month I sold $40,000 worth, then $50,000, then $60,000... For the first 2 years, I was only selling pre-ordered systems and to this day am more often out of stock than in stock. Well...I must have done a good job marketing because now all the retailers wanted the gun that no one had ever heard of or had seen. That made them even harder for me to get. I called MTM complaining about how Mosmatic was screwing me up and booked a call with Rob and Mike at Veloci MTM. Together on that call we designed the SGS28 in the exact form it now sits today. That was pretty early on for me in business, so I couldn't commit to exclusivity. Plus...I still liked the Mosmatic more. It's just a better gun. It takes the best design from Suttner and the best swivel from Mosmatic and combines them. The ball bearing trigger is also unique and the best on the planet. So the SGS came in, and they sold it everywhere. Several years later we started to see the Chinese knock-off junk show up on Amazon. Duschin and other I.P. theft likes started showing up, and of course the US consumer doesn't care about any of that. They will simply buy whatever is the cheapest. I had also spent a lot of time with MTM to get us all the proper stainless fittings we now have today. It was around this time that I decided to take a risk and approach my friend Jaime at Mosmatic about making the gun I really wanted. It took us about 2 years of back and forth, prototyping, testing, etc. to get that gun Pan is using. This time I committed to exclusivity. I had to place 12 month blanket orders for $2,000,000 worth of fittings (that we completely redesigned made in Switzerland), new wand design, and gun. If I didn't sell them, I still had to pay and take them all. It was a huge risk. Shortly after that, MTM approached me about the SGS35 Aqualine. The Aqualine was a food services gun in the larger Italian catalog that no one had ever ordered. To me the Aqualine makes no sense. The trigger is not good, the gun is unnecessarily bulky, and the SGS28 was way better for much less money. They didn't listen to me and brought it over. Of course all the retailers that don't know jack about any of this ate it up and sold them to you. It's the worst MTM product and makes no sense to me. There is a whole lot more to the story, but that is some of it. I don't apologize for the cost of the OG Spec Mosmatic gun, wand, and fittings. We designed it to a standard of what it needs to be, not to a price point. Mosmatic makes it, has a reasonable margin to me, then I get a 50% margin from you. There are similar margins on the MTM and much higher margins on all the Chinese junk. It's just that the Mosmatic costs a boatload more to make. I also had a lot of say in the new Active gun, but I don't like how it came out. They decided to launch it anyways. I think that gun would needs to be about $35 to be intriguing. The SGS28 is a much better gun. Anyway, this is some of the behind the scenes of how the short gun has come to market. I have many more ideas in the future for foam cannons, fittings, and pressure washers. All it will take is risk, time, and a whole lot of money. I can only hope that I can make it happen. Matt

It seems as though you somehow left out a smaller business called detailers domain who sold kranzle to us detailers long before you decided to do the same. I even want to say that you once mentioned that they were the ones you purchased your original kranzle through. Btw, MTM also sold their qd couplers and plugs to detailers around this same time too. I learned about the use of qd’s from a small channel like yours (qwashers) a couple of years before you started your channel.

Honestly love the active over my previous mtm. Mostly because of the bottom quick connect being a lot closer to your hand giving, so the hose has less leverage against yourself. Definitely helps my wrist to not fatigue as easily. May seem like a small thing but has been good for me.

I really like this comparison test and they all look like a durable everyday product. I have the MTM black handle SGS28 and after a few years the build quality is still brand new. The only flaw is when using the handle for the first time of the day the quick connect to the nozzle takes a few attempts. Once the pressure washer is running changing tips is easy. For me the biggest change I made to my pressure washer system was upgrading the hose. I have broken several hoses at the connection end of the pressure washer. A video over Wips would be something no one ever talks about. Thank you for all your hard work Pan!

Both excellent choices. Perhaps go for the K1700 or K1900 as those have standard 1/4" quick connects so you can add accessories more easily (foam cannons, different hoses, etc). The K2, K3, K4, K5 and K7 have proprietary bayonet style connectors, so you have to use adapters and that's not as practical. I had a Karcher K5 for ten years, and although it was a great inexpensive unit, that proprietary connector drove me crazy haha. So I switched to the top pressure washer, the Kranzle 1122TST.

@@PanTheOrganizer Yeah the connecters and the hose are so nasty on the Karcher, always having to fight and fix them haha. I'm planning to purchase a Uberflex Hose, MJJC Foam Cannon Pro V2, SGS28 Gun with quick connects to go with the Pressure Washer, I haven't decided on a Pressure Washer yet, It's just so difficult to find variety equipment in car detailing here it seems. I did say I was looking at the "K1700" but that requires shipping from the US, so I was left with "Bigboi Washr FLO" or the "Karcher K4 or 7 Compact", I would happily purchase a Kranzle but they range from $2-3k. I did further research and I was highly interested in the "Active 2.0" because I basically just want the unit itself because I'm adding upgrades to it and It's easy to travel with. But again It's from the US and It uses different power plugs than us which is Types A and B while we use Type I. I'm no electrical expert if It's safe to mix the two Types with like a Universal Power Plug Adapter or something. I need to do some more research :D

If you have a Karcher K2-K7, they use proprietary connections, so standard 1/4" quick connects like these short guns and other accessories will not fit. Karcher uses a proprietary bayonnet style connection. The K1700 and K1900 pressure washers do use the traditional 1/4" quick connect so that would be ok.

First of all love all your videos and how you take the time to put products in the link thank you. Back to my question the link above you sent I have that part but does not fit the hose to the karcher because of the fitting of the hose. The end of the hose has a flat spot which can not support a spray gun that you were demonstrating.
@PanTheOrganizer
9 ай бұрын
Sorry, I should have added even more details. Normally, the Karcher K5 has a gun and wand. You can detach the wand from the gun, and then you'd use the adapter for attaching a foam cannon or other accessories. But, you can't attach an aftermarket gun on your unit. So you can't attach a gun like in this video, as you'd be attaching a gun on the gun. Unfortunately, you are limited in the amount of accessories you can attach, as the Karcher gun is directly connected to the hose, unless you figure a way to do that with different adapters, but I have never done that. I had a previous Karcher K5 before and all I could do was use the bayonnet adapter for a foam cannon. Depending on your budget, your next option is to get a Karcher K1700 that has the standard industry quick connects, and accessories to go with it, here: bit.ly/46PMK6y Or even better, this: bit.ly/48acYBS Or for the ultimate pressure washer, a kit like what I use: bit.ly/3yxLkhZ

$250 for a pressure washer gun is laughable especially considering the fact mosmatic makes an almost identical model for less than $100. Also, can we please slow down with the “but it’s the best swivel of them all” talk. lol. I know it’s a good swivel but under pressure they are all good. Btw Pan, respectfully you are incorrect in saying gpm is MORE important and is what gets us the most cleaning units. Both psi and gpm are equally important. This isn’t just my opinion…that is an actual fact.
@PanTheOrganizer
7 ай бұрын
Cleaning units are a measure of flow and pressure. That is correct and factual, yes. But, water flow is always more important in my opinio, in the practical application, real world use, as we should not go over 2000 psi when washing cars anyways. I rather have my Kranzle at 1000 psi and 2.1 gpm, than a 2000 psi 1.4 gpm machine like my previous Karcher K5. The Kranzle is another league. 👍🏻
@1thechosenjuan1
7 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer knowing that both psi and gpm are equally important I’m still curious and want to understand why you are still saying gpm is more important and how you came about this 2000psi limit considering the 2000psi 1.4gpm pressure washer would technically provide better cleaning power than the 1000psi 2.1gpm unit? Tia

Have you tested a high gpm pressure washer when washing a car? You’d know right away. There are things hard to describe in words without actually real world testing. What pressure washer are you currently using?
@1thechosenjuan1
7 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer I’ve never conducted an actual test but I have had the opportunity to use a number of different pw units (karcherK5, kranzle, 2 green works and the ar I current have setup). Honestly the most noticeable difference is sound. They all do a fine job though when it comes to foaming and rinsing. I think where most people seem to get confused thinking they need to use a higher gpm unit in order to get proper foam is due to them using the wrong foam cannon or one that isn’t properly specd. MTM provides a foam cannon suitable for 1.2-1.4ish gpm units which provides excellent foam. Also, these lower gpm units rinse vehicles similar to the more expensive units which makes it confusing when I hear people say otherwise.

Friends has nothing to do with this. I'm friends with Matt, and his tire dressing doesn't win first place in my yearly awards video for best tire dressing. When it comes time for recommendations and my personal opinion, I set aside any friendships. Anyone who has followed me for years knows this. And if you knew me better, you'd know that I absolutely love high end stuff. Watch the car I drive, all the equipment I own, my home theater setup, my HiFi setup, my luxury watch collection, etc. I share a common passion with Matt. We both love quality stuff. And as I can afford these things financially, I will spend the extra and get the top, and in the case of short guns, the Mosmatic is hands down the best. Period. If it was the same price as the others, nobody would be buying anything else if they're honest with themselves. So please don't come here dropping false accusations or having assumptions, without backing your statements with FACTS. I won't sit here just letting people like you try to tarnish my reputation. That's ridiculous. You don't get to build a successful KZitem channel with one million subscribers if people don't trust you and don't like what you are doing.

I have a question for Pan or anyone who cares to help, I’m not a professional detailer. I have a Karcher K5 and a jmmc V2.0 foam cannon. I m interested in the Carbrite gun (the least expensive on this video), or any decent gun for my set up. Most importantly. the gun must fit. On the Carbrite site in the UK, there is a choice of connectors, one of which is for Karcher k. The gun is not sold with that connector outside of the UK, so it seems to me. There are connectors on Amazon too, but I have no idea how good they are or if they fit at all. I live in Montreal Canada (Pan does too), I have to order from Alberta and Toronto, and when things I receive don t match, it s frustrating. Is there a place in Montreal that supplies detailing material? Your advice is very much appreciated.

I am not a connectors specialist unfortunately. It gets complicated with the K2 to K7 pressure washers, as they use proprietary K series bayonnet style connections, instead of the classic 1/4" quick connect styles. So it gets complicated when trying to modify those to add aftermarket accessories. You'd have to do some research on forums to see what can be done. But to my knowledge, you can't change the gun and wand on a K5. I had a K5 for ten years, and the only thing I had found was to use an adapter to have an aftermarket foam cannon. But the wand itself was directly connected to the hose.
