One of the best mods for any kind of bike: steel braided brake lines. Very surprised they weren't mentioned. Super easy to install and not that expensive. They'll do a LOT more for your braking than the 2.5kg you save on the battery in both street and track use.

@SpurgeonDunbar

As I am a bit more familiar with the gear side of things, Lem asked me to shoot you over some recommendations for leathers that are sized a bit more generously. Without knowing your actual measurements I am shooting in the dark a bit but here are some starting points to consider: The Cortech Latigo RR 2.0 is cut a bit more generously. I found it to be very refined over previous generations and dollar for dollar I like it more than the more expensive Adrenaline RR from Cortech. Another one to look at is the AGV Sport Podium suit. When I did California Superbike School these are the suits the instructors used and are the suits provided to their students. I was impressed with this suit the first time I tried one on for a Geek Speak video we shot and even more impressed when I saw the wide range of students CSS was able to outfit with them. Keep in mind that depending on your measurements another option is to get a suit sized larger than you need and then have it tailored down to fit your build often times this results in the fit of a custom suit but for less money than what you would normally have to pay to have a suit built from scratch. We recommend for our customers to reach out to Anthony's Leatherworks for any questions on leather tailoring. Those guys are great. If you have additional questions or want to discuss specific fitments, always feel free to call and chat with one of our gear geeks. There are quite a few track and road race guys on staff that would be more than happy to chat with you.

I guess these are nice mods but they all come with disadvantages you have to consider, there's a good reason why the bike didn't have these out of the factory. Frame sliders can cause an insane amount of damage to your bike if it's caught on something on the road. The engine "covers" reduces cooling capabilities, there are many accounts of this happening especially in hot climates.

is it just me or the frame keeps moving when shooting lemmy? is it because of a shoulder mounted camera or was the active stability thing on when uploading this video onto youtube? i first thought the tripod was probably on wooden floors but its a "shop" so probably has concrete floors there? its not noticeable but once you notice it, you cant help but get dizzy from watching the frame shift so much.

What kind of front wheel lift did you use? Do you brace the bike with blocks under the engine when propping up the front to take the wheel off?
@RevZilla
7 жыл бұрын
The front lift is from Trackside, and the rear is from Pit Bull. To lift the front wheel, you need to lift the rear wheel first to stabilize the bike. Once the rear is up on a rear stand, you can use either a front fork lift stand or front head lift stand. A fork lift stand lifts the front from the bottom of the fork legs, while a head lift stand lifts the front from the head tube. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/pit-bull-stands *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/trackside-front-paddock-stand

no-cut slider is contentious. I'd go along with that for total rookie 1st investment. Otherwise, commit to cutting the fairing and get straight mounted sliders. Those no-cut sliders are notorious for bending.
@infantrymatt83

it should also be mentioned than with the no cut sliders that at speed the bracket bends and/or snap off. they are no where near as strong as a cut slider. not to mention why a lot of the sliders have gone away from that shape because it grabs the pot hole or something in the road and instead of sliding now goes flying! but great job Lemmy! it's a learning process for new riders!

And after all that sales waffle no mention of the one mod which really makes a difference, aftermarket adjustable rearsets, they help with positive gear changes as unlike the factory standards they don't crud up inside the spigot which then affects your shifting and wears gear dogs quickly and then theres comfort, factory fitted Japanese rests are made for little Japanese legs and cramp our western legs so positioning these just 1 inch lower and a couple of notches rearward makes for a more comfortable pleasant journey, road or track.

And while doing a slow u-turn I had no power, as the clutch now engages much later than before. And I dropped the bike on it's right side. I'm probably overreacting, and everything's fine. Lemmy, awesome vid! great suggestions! any suggestions for riding gear?
@SpurgeonDunbar
7 жыл бұрын
Hey Eduardo, Lem asked me to jump in and help out with gear recommendations. If you would like to let us know what type of gear you're looking for I'd be happy to offer some guidance. When we are outfitting folks we usually start with a few basic questions. Are you looking for track gear or street gear? What are your measurements? What is the weather and temperature in the area you ride? Etc... For example, I use a Spidi Reset Wind race suit on the track because it's better tailored for taller, larger riders like myself. I use Dainese boots because I feel they offer best protection for the best price (That and Sidi boots are too narrow for my feet). The Alpinestars Nucleon KR-1 Road Back Protector is pretty much my favorite stand alone option on the market right now for not only protection but also for adjustability, price, and comfort. We like to treat the quest for new gear like more of a conversation. Feel free to respond here or shoot an email over to CS@RevZilla.com for a one-on-one conversation. You can always call up and have the conversation with one of our Gear Geeks as well. We have plenty of track riders on staff to help answer any questions you may have. Good luck!

Fenders are ugly and heavy and pointless. The tail tidy it lighter better looking and still just as safe if you install it correcrly

Tail tidy's don't really have an effect on how much crap gets kicked up because pretty much all bikes these days are sold with rear huggers. They actually put the longer tail on because legally, the number plate has to be positioned behind the rear wheel from factory.

I found out the hard way one very important mod if you are gonna take your bike to the track is changing your break fluid to racing break fluid. Boiling your break fluid coming into a turn at 130mph sucks. 30 bucks for a can of racing break fluid can save you 1000s of dollars in repairs.

No cut frame sliders are waste of money. Most of them are designed in a way that allows them to shift when you do go down. Had mine crack the fairing anyways because they pivoted. Best to just bite the bullet and cut the hole. That way, there's nothing to pivot.

We don't build custom bikes as a shop, but we have made some videos of what is possible with a sport bike, Harley Sportster, etc. Just another way to show the stuff we sell at revzilla.com. -DrewZilla

ahmed alaa stock brakes are ok for beginner track day riders, which this video is geared towards. If not he'd have to start talking steel braided break lines and a whole lot more.
