Standing abdominal and core exercises are a hot topic in the physical therapy and exercise world right now. Hi! It's Sara here, your neighborhood Doctor of Physical Therapy. Standing core exercises are becoming more popular because you have less risk of injury to your neck and standing exercises are accessible to more people as you don't have to get up and down from the ground. This program targets your deep core muscles like the transverse abdominus and multifidi and the more superficial muscles that make us look visibly tone like the rectus abdominus and obliques. These exercises can be modified to very low intensity to quite challenging. So, no matter your fitness level, whether you are new to exercise or have been working on your core for a long time, give these exercises a try. You don't need any equipment, but you can use hand weights to make the exercises more challenging.
