Quick question for you if the sunsynk inverter is overloaded will it blend power from the grid to make up the short fall or will it just go into pass through mode

Overloaded where exactly? If house consumption which connects to Grid port of the inverter exceeds what the inverter provides, then the grid will compensate, and what it compensates does not go through the inverter, because house consumption is also connected to the utility grid as well. So even if the house consumption gets much higher than the inverter's max power output, then no damage will happen to the inverter because the additional power from grid goes straight to house loads. However, If the essential loads which connect to the Load port of the inverter exceed the inverter's max power output, then the inverter will shut down and show a fault. The operator will then need to manually restart the inverter to clear the fault as it will not clear by itself.

@@imod5 yeah it would be the essential loads, ok so if the inverter was in peak shaving mode can you stop the grid from charging the battery, what I am trying to achieve is using the 8kw sunsynk and another inverter to give me a bit of head room so if the load exceeds 8kw the inverter won't shut down

@@dama054 sorry I do not fully understand your requirement. Grid peak shaving mode basically implies that the power pulled from the grid is not exceed the power value configured on the inverter. So if you configure your inverter to activate peak shaving and set the power to 4kW, it would pull up to 4kW from the grid to supply your loads, and the remaining will be compensated from PV or battery. I honestly don't know how the system will then behave if there is no solar and the batteries are fully discharged. My assumption would be the grid import would exceed the peak shaving power value configured to provide the house consumption. But when we talk about essential loads, I would strongly recommed that whatever essential loads you have connected to the SunSynk's Load port do not theoretically draw more than the max power the inverter model you have can provide. Otherwise a shutdown is bound to happen.
