Beya Gille Gacha welcomes us to her studio in the 18th arrondissement of Paris for this interview full of sincerity.
The artist of French-Cameroonian origin is inspired by the Bamiléké beaded art, which consists in covering an object with glass beads, in order to show its social status. Beya takes up this technique with its striking rendering, but uses it to highlight what is more important to her than any object: the human being.
A multidisciplinary artist - she creates, among other things, immersive installations and experimental videos - Beya develops a humanistic way of thinking, tinged with numerous references to spirituality. A "poetic quest to find where the arborescences meet, where the essence is hidden" according to her words, which echoes the quest for identity that she shared with us in this interview.
