As much as people dog it, I'm glad to hear it's still in the works because it's by far the most ambitious game from a AAA developer right now, so, I'm fine to wait and hope they surprise everyone. Also, Ubisoft is making a Star Wars action RPG as well. I'm hoping they use all the tech from this game for that Star Wars open world game as well. Just imagine the possibilities. A STAR WARS rpg using this sort of tech could make Ubisoft more money than anything they've ever made before.

A star wars RPG with the same concept and design as what Beyond good and evil 2 have been said to have would be insane. Especially if you can choose tracks like in SWTOR (ie Force Wielder, Smuggler, soldier, etc) and they let characters choose their alignment and make choices again. That said the game won’t bring in more money than ever unless they went freemium live service and mobile, which ew to both of those. The game could easily be more popular than any modern Ubisoft title and bring them some MUCH needed recognition and respect to their reputation.

I think it's very ambitious project that I've been following since I was like 12/13? I'm 25 now and still as eager to see the results. I'm actually glad if they restarted, although I really loved the design of Ganesha City. Why? Because co-op is not BG&E. I don't know where they went with that. I hope this will straighten the story because I feel like they were going everywhere, lost in the idea of creating their own Ubiverse which was system 3. It's a good idea, but this idea of having a planet facing the one side of the planet to protect one part from the meteorites was clearly a cover up for the monstrous quantity of work required to fill these planets with life. All that in a open world. This would take at least another 10 years to complete the whole solar system. For what ultimately? Hours of roaming? Whacky side quests? I'm sure this is not needed to complete the whole story. Now if they stuck to this idea 15 years ago, things would be different and polished. Maybe they changed the whole story, wouldn't be surprised. Happened with Final Fantasy XV, happend with Tomb Raider 2013. Maybe they changed the whole gameplay, which wasn't fit to the city. Perhaps this is just too much for the small Montpellier studio to handle. They are not Ubi Montreal, I can understand. We need another Jade. We need to be the main protagonist of this game and dive into the BG&E universe. They need to cut it with the over customization of experience. A good amount of choices are welcome but don't need the cyberpunk sims. We want BG&E2. COME ONNNNNN

Want to point out that the original BG&E was essentially a Zelda-type game with strong characters and personalities, I can't emphasize enough how badly of a departure the 2018 showcase felt to any fans of the original game. It may has well have been made with a completely unconnected title. Not that it matters since I'm going on the record believing this game will *never* release. As many familiar with the industry noted at the time, it was massively overscoped, it's completely unfeasible for it to ever release in the state that was promised at that time. Maybe some different iteration of the game will release under the BG&E2 name, but personally as a fan of the original even I don't care and don't want to see it. The original game was special for many different reasons, and all of them have apparently been forgotten at Ubisoft.

This game can be well considered as a reboot, since the first idea of BGE was a open world game really big, but they had to cut that idea out since the limitations of the time. But still, the first game will always be at my heart and at my top 10 best games.
@danielpridemore3997

From the deep diving I've done on the dev of the first game, Michel Ancel et al obviously never achieved the massive open-world aim he wanted for BG&E, cut it down to whatever satisficed Ubisoft at the time and then the product, though not matching his vision, became a cult classic and was now using that popularity to (hopefully) actually make what he first wanted to as the sequel. Unfortunately, that original vision doesn't gel well with what we cherish from BG&E1 so unless most of the sequel devs are deep fans of the first game, there won't be any faithfulness in the world or story. Just another empty forgetful Ubisoft open-world.

They’ve got the franchises tbh. The problem is them being too experimental if anything. Should just have stuck with Rainbow Six, Ass Creed and Far Cry for a while with the occasional sprinkling of stuff like Rayman and The Division. Considering what they have they’ve underperformed like crazy tho. After some Nintendo stuff, Minecraft and CoD those are some of the biggest franchises in gaming. So with the right games they should have no problems getting on track again. But people except big things of big franchises. You can’t just make a meh Far Cry game and hope people buy it. Stock prices don't show public perception, it shows the kind of results the stock has, and is expected to deliver to investors. Very little of the general public will be among those investors, and certainly very few of the gaming public will. Then gaming companies being considered to be overly concerned with delivering to their investors has been the considered cause of various things viewed as being bad for gamers, like heavy monetization, manipulative monetization (ex: loot boxes, and such), and so forth. There has been some company heads that while their stock prices have been in decline to some degree, they considered their company to be doing well, as the progress they have made in various projects, and systems has been considered very positive, which would be helpful to the company moving forward. It's just that those things weren't the type to turn a direct profit to investors, so did not improve their stock performance. This is where good investors, that do their homework would come in, as they could see the things a company has been doing should result in a future gain to the company, which would positively impact the stock returns of a company, so would make it a good time to invest while the stock prices are lower.

They should have made a remake of the first BGE to check if there is even interest in the franchise. And how is it possible that their managers do such a bad job? Fucking up the development of a game can happen, but multiple times, over that long period? I feel that they are at a point at which they invested so much that they can't stop the development without risking the death of the whole company, which is basically gambling at this point.

If ubifost realy is making a star wars game I believed what they'd done is remodel everything in the game to fit the aesthetics of star wars and scripted it from the ground up and they already had a developed sandbox to work with which was this
