Before any of this, my advice would be to figure out if I.T. is actually what you want to pursue. There is a reason many IT pros are burnt out or absolutely hate their job and that reason probably has very little to do any technical aspects. Many people in I.T. are naturally introverts but what I.T. calls for is actually the total opposite. So, there is a huge clash there. Can you learn or force yourself to be technical "babysitter" for staff or maneuver around office/corporate politics? Sure. Will it make you happy and fulfilled long term as natural introvert is another question. Honestly, a person's personality is a bigger indicator of I.T. success or fulfillment than any technical know-how or knowledge.

So for someone who is an introvert and likes the technical aspect of computers rather than talking to people, is there a field they should aim for instead that doesn't deal with people as much?
