Having the farmers as your landlord with really sweet equipment is a HUGE benefit to you. Plus they can get more boiler wood. So far it looks like you have a great relationship with them. Plus you and the new woodyard landlord share your toys, which really helps your business relationship. The skidsteer splitter sure makes handling the big rounds a lot easier and a whole lot less noodling!

There are many different control options in loaders so the best thing to do is test some out to see what works best for you. The Gehl I have 1 stick is to drive and the other controls the bucket and there is a pedal for auxiliary hydraulic for splitter or grapple. Some have pedals for bucket and 2 sticks to drive. The newer they are the smother the controls will be.

Nice guys. The skid steer splitter appears to be shop-built but pretty functional, a real time saver breaking down the big rounds. Bert can handle anything with the Gehl. Monster size tree service trees will yield lots of nice Ash firewood. Mickey Mouse was fighting back to the Lion King but I believe the cat will win. Someday the processor will run on camera, but I can see you're having to get the oversize stuff out of the way first. GNI
@chrisp556

You got that right. That splitter is much better than man handling them big rounds. Home made or built by a manufacturer those are life savers if you had the equipment to utilize one. I wish they would make one for a compact tractor. I've asked about that to Andrew and he said the small tractors don't have a high enough hydraulic flow rate.

Bert, not sure if you are aware but Wiscondin has a surplus auction site for municipalities and school districts. The auction is online. Just Google Wisconsin Surplus Auction. Looooooooots of skid steer stuff amongst anything and everything. I am watching a Miller Welder and an X Marx mower. Auction covers the entire state, including all UW colleges. I've always wondered about these setups. It seems like it would be more efficient to use a processor. With the price of a skid steer (new) being pretty hefty, a decent processor (or commercial grade splitter) and compact tractor would be close to the price of this setup. Maybe less. I commented before the end of the video, so I maybe, answered soon anyway.

If you already have the skid steer and can buy a skid steer attachment for $3-3,500 or build 1 then there's a huge savings. I have a Wolf Ridge 35c on order with autocycle, big bore package, 4,6&12 way wedge. $12,625 with shipping. Trust me if I had a skid steer I would've bought the skid steer splitter for $3,000 to bust up big rounds. You can buy a couple thousand gallons of fuel for $9,000.

No place for a 445 husqvarna, give your 592 XP Chris . Need to find old 98 husqvarna or 2195 jonsered Chris with the chain file right for hardwood cutting.

I might have missed this in a previous video but are you now partnering with the people at the farm?

@@homersimpson5668 No but thanks for the courteous reply. It cleared up my question of whether are there decent people in the world but not the original question. Thanks again.

Zoning issues at his studio property came up and he had to either spend a butt load of money to hide the operation or Relocate. An agreement he made with Bert offered him many many options for the future. This and many other answers can be found in a previous video titled your questions answered. From a month or so ago.

@@jeanvaljohn3921 Yes I knew about the moving and extra space. Now you see Bert cleaning the yard, pushing up piles, bringing logs to be cut and using a splitter on his skid steer. I was wondering if he entered into a partnership, a pay for Berts time and equipment or another deal. He might have mentioned it a previous episode as I sad and I missed it. Just curious.

Those huge rounds y'all processed at Ken's would have been so much easier with that machine!
