Definitely a tough day in the woods but we learned a lot on that hunt and we are happy to share it with others. That buck is still cruising around as of 10/26 when a friend got him on camera on a neighboring piece of property so we are happy to see that. Thanks for watching!

Happens to every bowhunter if they stay in the game long enough. I will say you are giving the deer too much credit for ducking/dropping. The shot was high. That too happens to all of us. I feel for you and hope you get another chance next season.

Any reason you didn’t shoot when he was shaking the branches,? I would think it would be a good time to shoot, branch noise may have muffled the arrow sound.

Always use a second point of attachment as a safety when using a saddle. Unfortunately, most saddle hunters think you don’t need a safety, but you do. When the saddle is being used as a stand, it’s not a safety.

Yeah I wish placement of impact definitely could of been better. I do feel that if he doesn't duck I do make a lethal shot though after reviewing point of impact putting a mark on the screen then rewinding to where he initially is standing. It definitely happens and learned a lot from this hunt. Thanks for watching!

My dad shot a buck and the angle was bad but it was at broadside I think he his liver and killed it but we could never find it which was annoying considering it was one of the biggest bodies he has ever seen. Me personally I think someone took it because we never saw vultures or much blood so I think someone saw it dead near a road a picked it up with a truck. I know the feeling of a big buck slipping between your fingers man, it sucks.
@alleghenyorigins

Yeah, these types of moments are always tough to deal with. We just take away all of the knowledge we can from this specific scenario and hopefully use it this upcoming season to have some success. Thanks for watching!

Was the deer downhill? It looked like it. U want them downhill but it creates a much different angle on the shot. Plus a deer is rounded & not flat, plus they move. So if u hit too low you are usually better off than being high like u were. Back 30 years ago a group of us shot from a platform with a stairwell. A couple of us had pendulum sights. That kind of angle u can see the pendulum rise as u drop your bow arm. That's a shame.
@alleghenyorigins
Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say he was downhill but we had a downward-angle shot from our position in the tree. It's very unfortunate but the deer did survive so knowing that made it not so bad. Learned a lot on this hunt, and hopefully, take that experience into this season and have some success. Thanks for watching!
@josephtreadlightly5686
Жыл бұрын
@@alleghenyorigins Yeah, looked like the arrow went between the lungs & spine. They hurt themselves fighting more than your arrow did. It's too bad the pendulum sight had such a high failure rate. I'm glad I learned what I did while practicing with them. Shooting from the ground is much different than in a 🌳. Have a good season.

If my uncle sharpened the broadhead for you, you probably would've had him. I'm just playing, it happens! Big bucks aren't easy to kill so you really owe it to yourself to let them get close for a good shot. 20 yards is my max range with a cedar arrow and recurve. Anything past that, cool it's for the next hunter to claim unless he decides to stick around for my zwickey. Lol. I just looked at your state of PA and man I always thought it was more populated , I'm sure it is with how close it is to the east coast. But got dang you guys have some Vast state forest and what looks like mountains to hunt. Looks like you really have to work for the big old boys there. The north part of the state looks the best but even in the middle part going up and down. PA looks good. I'm from MN so its fun to Google maps / satellite diff parts of the country.
