As a daughter to a man that served in Vietnam, you have all my respect. Both my parents were in the US Army. My father was in Vietnam as a Cobra pilot, my mother was personnel in Desert Storm and I was in OIF. I am fortunate to live in the DC area (only cause I can visit the Memorials). I know that I will never understand what my parents went through, just like they will never understand what I went through, but we are very proud to stand together as prior Military members that served our country to the best of our ability. May all the ones that dont make it home rest in peace.

So moving, tears rolled down my face and continue as I am writing this. I was 16 in 1965 the Vietnam War was a distant interruption on the evening news report. When the war ended their were no ticker tape parades no one celebrated. It ended and was merely forgotten. Those who lost their lives and those who returned deserved recognition. This may be long-overdue but to All those brave soldiers you have my deepest Gratitude and Respect.

JEFF, I could not agree with you more. With all the resources we had in Vietnam if we would have been let go to win the war it would have been over in a year but instead the politicians decided to micromanage it. Their meddling in an area they knew nothing about directly caused many deaths of US servicemen and women. I served during the Vietnam and post Vietnam War. Never ever go to war but if we have to - go all out to win and let the soldiers do what they have prepared to - it's not for people who do not understand to be part of - but use it only as a last resort. People die and it is not a fucking video game. JP - 11B; (3/6, 2/17 ; 3/504. )

After all the terrible thing’s these boys went through and when they arrived home they had to try and get out of their uniforms as quickly as possible so they weren’t accosted by the protesters! It made me so angry, those boys didn’t start the war most of them were drafted into it! This should be remembered as one of the most shameful things done in this country. To this day I have no time for all the idiots who protest against things just to protest most of the time not even know what they are protesting for or against. unortuntly with the military they only like to document the sucess and not the defeats/ failures. but its also the reason why we continue to make the same mistakes over and over in combat. i served in iraq and would here about failed missions and ambushes. we would have debriefings rarley on what not to do. and yet the next day told to the very thing that got a fellow soldier killed. then only to get hit and either have injuries and at times deaths. nevr made any sense to me and most others. but its the order. politcal corectness and selfeshness is entrenched in the military these days. most will do anything to make sure thye get the promotion or medal, even if they dont deserve it. this all got real bad with the troop surge in 08, to the point the military started purging ranks in 2010. but alot of good soldiers where let go, for soldiers who played the politics. bottom line is we will never learn and they rarley will document failures.

This was the most powerful documentary I've ever seen. I'm pushing 70 now and every time I see or hear a story about Vietnam a cold shudder runs through me. I wonder, if my number had been called in the draft, if I would even be alive today. I'm thankful that it wasn't, but more than that, I'm thankful to those whose number was called.and fought to defend democracy for all of us. God bless them all. And to those who survived, welcome home.

This was incredible to watch, thank-you all for increasing my understanding of this time 1000%. The entire thing got me, but I have to say at the end, when there was an image of young man struck down, and laying on the ground that I suddenly saw my own sons in his place, and realized in a personal way at that moment how horrible it was. There aren't words to say what these men went through, and I thank them very much, as well as Big and Rich for going above and beyond in writing this song.

Awesome documentary of a man's willingness to face a horrible tragedy of war in his past, respect to Niles and all Vietnam veterans. Big and Rich, very few people would go the extra mile for a friend, without a doubt, I have enjoyed your works as artists but after this, true patriots.

Jesus. What a time it was. Thank you, Niles Harris, for your dedicated service. Your loyalty in honoring your brothers the way you have and the way you do weighs incredibly heavy on my heart. I can't imagine how heavy that day must be for you but I see the pain in your eyes in this production. God bless you, man. Thank you Big and Rich for bringing his story to the world.

From Australia, cheers mate. This video with the spirit it was made, a soldiers story of the Free. We honor each other but I honor u more. Any front-line soldier tells a different story & lives a different life for his brothers, that only another soldier would understand. I am of a Service today but the respect is no different. Great honoring ur brothers Niles....I standfast for you. Cheers

Niles Harris. Remember this name on the 8th of November. On that night I am going to video myself giving a toast to him and all the dead in Vietnam war. I myself will have a Michelobe light or ultra. I want all my friends to Share this and see if it goes viral and I want some of you who feel like it to video yourselves toasting these fellers. Their sacrifice should not go ignored. They were treated like garbage when they came home and I think its time to change that. It don't matter what you drink just do it and show some respect.

My dad was in Vietnam, not sure what year it was. They pulled him out, he was a sharp shooter, they put him at Guantanamo Bay Cuba (USMC). He never talked about Vietnam or Guantanamo Bay Cuba. He said, " The shit he seen would make a person cringe." He would not talk about it. He did tell me he hated leaving his brothers behind in the jungle to go to Guantanamo. He told me he would rather be in Nam then Cuba. He said, "The Jungle was friendlier." I don't know what he seen or what y'all seen but my hat goes off to y'all for your service.

I just watched John rich on temples Tim cast IRL show since his team he and his team are in Nashville for the week. And during the cat feedback, one of the members mentioned just documentary. So of course, I just had to watch it. I'm a Navy veteran myself, and it's nice to see artists to Vietnam vet the attention they deserve. They are badass and theirs.

I am speechless. Speechless at the sacrifice of these Americans. And speechless that 6 people felt the need to dislike this video. I believe in watching my language, so to summarize, i realize that my shotgun fits 6 shells. New kneecaps are cheap this time of year. This video makes me see beyond a song I have always loved, the true story beyond it. Thank you to all those who have sacrificed without thanks. The majority may forget, but the minority will always cherish. These soldiers fought.
