You mentioned that you wanted comments on the dinette. I’m a 2021 Surveyor 240BHLE owner and really like the U-Shaped dinette design with Side entry doors on the seats. I am often the person that squeezes all the way in and don’t have issue with the space. As for the newer strut-assist storage in the seats… I’m not a fan of taking cushions off and getting people off the seats to get at the contents. All in all, our family does enjoy our Surveyor!

The fold-able rear bottom bunk, outside rear door and outside storage on the rear driver side is nicely designed. I'd use those rear spaces to carry extra fresh water, my inverter generator (100lbs) and misc items from the front pass thru area. That'd really help manage the loaded hitch weight. Nice unit, great lay out. The kitchen is the best!

I'm not really looking at bunkhouses since it's just Husband and me but I can see how the cargo bunkhouses could be very useful, especially the models with a back door. I'd really like the option of a cargo/office from the factory if anyone in charge of floor plans is reading this though. :-) I love what this model is doing with the bedside shelf behind the closet too, there's space for charging my phone, a book or two, and my water bottle all close enough to my head that I'm not likely to wake up my husband when I reach for something in the middle of the night. I'm not fond of stools so I'd probably leave them at home and tuck some extra storage under the breakfast bar instead. It would be a great place for stuff that might be needed outside, like the grilling utensils, bug spray, sun screen, flashlight, the dog's leash, etc. Just reach in and grab stuff without having to actually enter the camper. Road mode looks decent on this one with the addition of the bathroom entrance. Fridge and bathroom access is fantastic for the grocery store stop (the Kroger stop?). My fluffy butt would get stuck trying to squeeze through to the bedroom, but that's where the bunkhouse actually becomes useful for us, space for quick cat nap at the rest area before getting back on the road again.

I like the tv location, it makes sense. I’m with you on the lack of window in the main door. That’s a big miss as far as I’m concerned. At first glimpse, I didn’t like the way the bunks are open to the whole trailer, but then I thought about it. It’s good that they’re open so the kids can hang out on their bunks and still be involved in conversation or whatever in the rest of the trailer. And they do have the individual privacy curtains for bedtime. I noticed the rough cut on the hole for the cup holder in the bedroom. I know it’s usually hidden, but it’s not unheard of that someone would open that up. It just gives a bad impression, to me at least. It makes me wonder if they took any other shortcuts where it really matters.

OK Josh... I like it... Even though I don't need the bunkhouse part of this one... The positives are better even with the bunks... I like the size of the kitchen and bathroom. Good counter space is nice and the breakfast bar is a wonderful idea... The bunk storage door through the back was a great use of the area, could probably do some minor work and remove the bunks and have even more storage options. Entertainment area is perfect.... If I were to knock em on things. It would be nice to have a door window since there isn't much for windows on the camp side. That dinette storage, IDK, I think I would rather have doors on the side with the traditional removable seat to get you in the back storage area, if needed. It would have been nice to have a longer awning. All in all, I think this one covers a ton of good things... And for a small and lightweight bunkhouse, she's got the goods...

for a bunk model, very cool, love the rest of the floorplan as it is, does need door window in living room.... would be cool if both bunks flipped up same way, with taller door and stairs or skinny ramp door.... i mean it is just one step away from another door anyway, and it would allow a bit more cargo space, if you got rid of that little outside left rear spot, and moved ladder, could make bunks swing up closer to wall and make wider cargo door for possibly a single dirt motorcycle, not much more, but more than it fits now.... would be enough to make big difference what can fit in there..... door in front of toilet always make me laugh.... i would HAVE to drop a deuce with door wide open somewhere at least once while owning it lol.... on a side note, i saw a home build school bus build that had the seat of the toilet... right where you sit and... wipe etc. up higher than other furnishings, exactly at window level like a real thrown full 360 view from outside, and it had a fart fan with ducting going strait from INSIDE rim of the toilet bowl to the campside mid area right at face level, every sound coming right outside ..... i pointed these out to the builder and he was like OMG i didnt realize that, i built it for middle of nowhere, didnt even think of those points lol... very nice setup... but not for anyone outside near the fire. full visual and audio with aroma too.

I really like that it is a real queen size bed. I don't like the short awning, I'm with you and it needs to go all the way to the back of the trailer. Now, do they make something like this without the bunk house feature? Say turn the bathroom 90 degrees and expand it a bit so you have a bit more room and a real shower door. This also lets you move the dinning table back also. I like using the reamining area for storage and like the doors for access. You would have to move the ladder to the other side and access door to the ladder location. Do they make a floor plan similar to what I am outlining? Thanks and hope you are dry by now.

Our 2015 Coachmen 282BHDS is 90.5% similar in floor plan as this Surveyor and it simply works. Anyone considering this model should just pull the trigger. For the size, its GVWR is very good and is cargo capacity is not bad at all. For reference, our 2017 Silverado 1500 5.3 easily pulls our TT that has basically the same empty weight, GVWR, & length as this Surveyor. Anyone interested in this Surveyor that drives a half ton truck just needs to make sure they are not exceeding their truck's cargo capacity, especially some Tundra's and Ram's with ratings in the 1200-1300 range. I hate seeing 1/2 tons pulling TT's and their rear ends are obviously sagging too low. A properly set up weight distribution hitch is key when towing with a 1/2 ton. This is an excellent floorplan and although I hate saying it, I prefer the 2nd door for bathroom access compared to having a mini-camp kitchen. The utility is just better having that 2nd door, especially in road mode while towing and we need to make a pitstop to use the bathroom . Nothing to re-invent but the Surveyor's little tweaks to the floorplan like the rear cargo door, bar next to sink, little secondary pantry between slideout and front bedroom, solar, etc etc make it that much better. A simple 100w solar panel is all anyone needs to start off with. We have one that was dealer installed by original owner and it's so convenient knowing our battery is always topped off. Anyone buying this Surveyor can easily add a 2nd or 3rd solar panel and a 2nd battery to extend the running time of the 12v fridge if they really need it. Roof mount prep's make it so easy to expand now days compared to the side wall mounted Zamp Solar plug-in ports that were being put on TT's a few years again. I just dont know about the dinnete storage, I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I need access to the underseat storage while either someone is sitting on the bench or we have some bags sitting on top, and the front facing hinged door seems to makes it easier for access. Just my $0.02.

I bought a 2021 Surveyor Legend 202RBLE. It was in the first run of the newer style. Chose it due to the Azdel, PVC roof, and the incredible ceiling height with the open plan I chose. Have put over 8000 miles on it. Still love it. No major issues. Small things I fixed back better.. Love my breakfast bar and my wife and I use it a lot. Plenty of room. I tore out the crappy bathroom vent fan and replaced with a Max Air. Yep outside kitchen sucks. I took out fridge and slide out sink mechanism. Fridge inside is so big the outside one is not needed. Kept that shelf the fridge sat on. I put in an ice maker and I also put in a crate to store grilling and outside cooking stuff. Kept that black tub sink that fits under the shelf and I use it to wash dishes outside on my rear fold down equipment rack I ordered on it. Best mod was I moved my spare tire to under the front battery box area ( I can weld). Removed some of the graphics I didn’t like as well. I have the fold out couch bed. My 2 girls camp once a year with us. Will replace it with true theater seats one day when they don’t. Mine is 4800 lbs dry which is another reason I chose it due to I have a 1/2 ton with a V8. Go to the mountains 4 times a year and FL a lot in the winter. I’m in GA. Pulls great in the mountains. We absolutely love it.

That area behind the closet is the best I have seen. You can also keep fabric softener in that secret storage for that aggressive clothes folding you keep mentioning

I'm not typically a fan of bunk houses probably because it isn't a model that I would consider myself needing however I do like the cargo bunkhouse models as I think that they provide even singles or couples with important available storage for everything from recreational items to necessary items for someone such as myself who is disabled and would need to travel with a wheelchair and or a power scooter. Plus I also have dogs and would like to be able to carry fold up kennels as well. I think they generally did a very good job with this floor plan. I appreciate the second interest directly into the bathroom. I believe this would be particularly helpful for families with children who run in and out to use the facilities. It would keep a lot of wear and tear and dirt from the main part of the rv. I think the breakfast bar area would be great to use as a buffet server when making a meal and serving the family if you were not all able to fit at the dinette booth. Speaking of the dinette booth I guess it's interesting that they gave you that place to store the to bar stools but again for my situation I would prefer to have drawers come off of the dinette and just have that be extra storage. I don't think the kitchen is particularly well equipped from a storage perspective for appliances and cookware. I could see that space under the booth being needed for those types of items. I also don't see much space for linen storage or for storage for things like kids clothes if you were taking a family with you. I'm not sure if you could utilize some of the exterior storage to hold suitcases with clothes in them or utilize the underbed storage in the bedroom for all the family clothes. I do appreciate that it has a residential queen bed in it as that's always a big deal to me. I would also definitely go with the theater seats. I think if you had much more than five people in a family this is probably not quite a big enough trailer so I don't think having the sofa sleeper is that helpful unless you have very small children. I do like the TV placement I think it's effective although I can't tell if it's on a swing arm so that it could be adjusted over to be more visible from the booth. I also want to compliment the bathroom design. For being such a small bathroom I think it is extremely functional and the layout is terrific. It's very useful and given that it has to fit in next to the bunkhouse I think that it is a great job. Ideally there would be a linen cabinet but with the additional exterior door that really isn't an option but maybe there could be a way to put some towels or a small cabinet above the toilet? Overall a very nice unit and I do really appreciate as you pointed out the outlets under the breakfast bar so that you don't have to try to plug an appliance in from an overhead outlet. Thanks Josh! Particularly appreciate you taking one for the team on a rainy day.

Nice. And dare I say, half ton towable? This weight seems well inside the towing capability of most modern half tons, and the tongue weight would leave you with a fair amount of payload left to spare. But is it a bit too long for a half ton? Will it act like a sail and send the truck swaying all over the road?

I see no reason why you couldn’t add a window in that door. I purchased a window with a shade in it to replace the frosted glass window I hated in my camper. That window kit also came with a template to cut out an opening if needed. It’s really made as a retro fit but if you have a jig saw and can follow a line you could cut out the opening I believe. AP Products 015-201512 Slim Shade Upgrading Your Door Window. Josh will likely chime in on the warranty, but what the heck. If you muck it up you could replace the door.
