Thanks for the review. I have the same trailer and have the exact same complaints.

I have a big tex trailer. Like you said the prep isn't the best but I haven't owned a trailer that didn't rust within a year going through Maine winters. I ended up fluid filming mine to protect it. Nice trailer!

Yeah a dump would be easy to fluid film. Or get a galvanized trailer 😂

100% this spring I'm going to wire brush the rust repaint it correctly and then put some kind of preventive on it.

@@outdoorswithandy732 ok if you’re going to do that use a rust converter as a primer.

Andy how long is your trailer? I have the same trailer @ 16ft 15k GVWR and was wondering how much tossed wood I can fit. On the rust...I've owned quite a few trailers and as frustrating as it is they all have rust even while sitting on the dealer's lot. Ive learned to spray at least the under sides and seems with some type of oil when new, we use Fluid Film on just about everything and even that doesn't stop it but the areas we've sprayed aren't rusting.

thanks to videos like yours and others steered me away from big tex trailers and others. after much reserch i boughT a southland SL714-16K thanks to dirt monkeys videos where he went to southlands factory in canada. ive had my trailer for 4 months and the outside still looks brand new. i do concrete work so the inside looks like it hauls concrete. ive pulled other dump trailers and this southland is by far the quietest riding dump trailer ive ever towed. sell your big wreck and buy a southland. anything mass produced is going to have flaws but the amount of rust on your trailer is unacceptable. when i bought my trailer i washed it and then went around and douched areas where i thought dirt and water are going to collect. like you, i like my stuff looking nice. your not the only one whos been taken by big wrecks.

Glad it helped you out, I'll have to look into those trailers when I get my next one. Thanks for the positive feedback

Andy, maybe you could use a bed liner coating on the underside? I haven’t looked into it but I would think it would be tougher than a can of rust oleum.

Nice review Andy. Hope you get the rust issue handled. Did it dump the two cord load?
@outdoorswithandy732

It did. Something else I forgot to point out was I extended the remote cord so I can operate inside the truck while spreading stone or dirt. But I thought I've had some loads on there that it wouldn't dump I thought no way and it dumped it.

My camper's warranty started the day the trailer got to the dealership. WTF, 1 year warranty was less than 11 months from purchase day and 10 from when I took it home. Granted the warranty work is a $30 part but no one stands behind their work anymore.

That sucks, I just don't understand. Guaranteed if one of the welders or other machines breaks and still has warranty their gonna fight for it.

I have driven by where these trailers are manufactured. It’s a long steel building right off the road. The price of dump trailers is crazy stupid now. I just looked at a 12’ LoadTrail that they wanted $11,400. Like hell! Then again, everything is 🦇💩🤪 high!

That galvanized one Chris just bought was over $13k but on the other hand it will last forever. But $13k for a 6x12 Holy crap
