They should sit down and make a plan to free up his free time and hers. She probably needs to do the laundry and other errands before his day off so that he has a real, free day off. If she needs to get a babysitter, have her family watch the kid while she does errands or whatever free time she needs. Maybe have a laundry service like I used to do when I was working so much and just didn’t have time for it. This is the hardest time because the baby is so young and requires so much attention. I think if they can just work things out for the next 2 years, things will get a lot better.

Eventually I lost it and told her that she treats the time I spend at work as if I'm having a break and some 'me' time. Yeah, bouncing drunks at a casino 8 to 16 hours a day is a great way to relax... Told her I'll happily swap and spend time with the baby at home. I even offered to shave my chest and pretend to breast feed if needed. Well, it worked. She stopped the bitching and we've had a rather peaceful 5 years since.

Bill's comment on the male-female relationship being centered around the woman's happiness is misguided and toxic in my opinion. Sorry, but if I have to sacrifice part of my sanity to make you happy, you can go to the seventh layer of Hell, kids or not. What's the point of a union if both of us can't be the best versions of ourselves for each other's sake and those around us? To bitch and moan about life behind closed doors and then act like everything is fine in the open. I understand in the real world shit happens and there will never really be true balance in a relationship, but that's what compromise is for. Compromise has to happen both ways, not one. This type of rhetoric of the man having to suck it up and bear the emotional burden of being a non-priority is what causes so many guys these days to run away from commitment, fall into depression, and do things they shouldn't. I'm not advocating for the reverse either, in my opinion that would be just as toxic. It's nonsense. In traditional homes, in Islamic countries, and in agrarian societies, this idea of the woman being the center of appeasement is not even plausible. it's actually nonsensical. The children are the center, and the man and woman have to perform a balancing act so they can be the best versions of themselves FOR THE CHILDREN FIRST and then for each other as companions. Western society is in rot, that's why young adults these days do the wildest shit we've ever witnessed, and it will only get worse. Ask yourself how many straight-laced well-raised 18-year-olds have you come across? BUT Let's just say I'm wrong, and Bill is right, we men should lay ourselves on the ground for our wives, partners, etc to be happy enough to function as they should for the children's sake, and all is well with them, the home is happy except for the individual that made that sacrifice. How does that pan out for us? Does the end justify the means? Truly I would like to be proven wrong. Maybe there's a value in that which I'm overlooking due to my lack of experience and wisdom. Is this domestic hierarchy a recipe for everlasting stability? or a 50/50 coin toss between peace and chaos? Because let's be reminded that each man is built differently and reacts to this dilemma in their own way.
