Yes, this is truly gorgeous. What a joy to experience the music these people shared. Marc is SO young in this video! He looks like he's just out of high school. He became such an extraordinary bass player. Can you imagine just starting out with Bill Evans!

This is gorgeous, I also love the version of this tune he did on the Paris Concert of LP of 1979. Many thanks for posting this!

Just listened to Paul Simon's version with Toots ! Beautiful ! The lyrics add so much to explain the feeling Bill gets into on this. Yes Bill ~ we do it for your love. It's hard to miss you when you are this present ! Laurie

During this version we again listen to the untuned keys to the right on the piano (It is also bad on "But Beautiful"). When this master came to town he could expect something better. Thanks for bringing this song out in the open

apparently by then his hands were a mess to look at upclose from injecting so much dope in them. The record he speaks of is Affinity, it is not a very popular album of Bill's, but it is one of my favourite. the atmosphere is so sublime and the harmonica works so well for the material, this song especially. Check it out!

It's on the 1st edition of the Paris Concert 79. You might have the second part of the concert.

Intersting comparisons to the original harmonzations I wonder Paul Simon thought. If he is sane he thougtht that's a better way to harmonize the song to bring out the modulatiopns. Only Evans and is ilk could improvise on a song with so manyy modulations.

It is amazing interpretation of a great Paul Simon pop tune, he turned it into something heroic. But I can't believe Iowa would present this pianist with THIS piano. Was there an excuse for how out of tune the top registers were? Like there was a dramatic change in humidty or temperature in the room, or some other phenomena, or it was dropped on the loading dock...I know he called them out on the mic at this show for this piano being so bad. Now I hear why.
