Bobby was an awesome drummer. I was at a show years ago and caught a drumstick that Bobby threw into the audience. I was able to get backstage after the show and Billy asked me if I'd like to have Bobby sign my drumstick. I said yes...of course and Billy called Bobby over and he signed it for me. We didn't get to talk long, but he was so nice. I'm so sorry for your loss.

What I always found amazing about Billy Squire songs is the Lyrics. Even his lessor known songs have some amazing lyrics. Contrast todays music to music like this. Todays music is very shallow.

Live Comments: :12 Flag! These first guitar lines are "Nobody's Fault But Mine" by Led Zeppelin. -20 points for plagiarism. -50 points for plagiarizing Led Zeppelin's worst song. Okay, continue. :36 Oh shit, is that John Bonham back from the dead on drums? Oh no, it's just someone who looks exactly like John Bonham hair and orange wife-beater intact. Trash. -100 points. Side note: The chorus isn't bad but why did the drummer have to plagiarize from John Bonham afterwards. Why are you doing this, Bonham wannabe? You think you can get away with playing John Bonham's trademark syncopated shuffles all you want? -200 points for plagiarizing Bonham's entire playbook in one toss-off section after the chorus. Also adjusted for inflation. Let's go, Brandon! 2:59 This guitar solo sucks. That's what happens when your lead guitarist is a poodle but Billy Squier is also a poodle so it's understandable. Also as far as covers of "Nobody's Fault But Mine" go this is probably somewhat more serviceable than most and I don't remember Jimmy Page's original solo but I do know it sucks because again that song sucks. I'd give the solo a C- but as part of this song most of which is worse I deduct no points. and may god have mercy on your soul, Billy Squier. god this song sucks!

@VolvoImpala I wouldn't call it plagiarism. The open riffs use the same pattern that Led Zeppelin "Nobody's Fault But Mine" & Coverdale/Page "Shake My Tree" does but it isn't used exactly the same way. Most solos contain the 1st position of the Pentatonic scale but that isn't referred to as plagiarism just because they use the same part of a scale hundreds of guitar players use. The opening riff here almost follows a Mixolydian pattern but I don't think he is using that as a mode in this song, I would have to sit down with my guitar and go back over it. I use to play this song but it has been years maybe even decades. I remember I picked up on the same "Nobody's Fault But Mine" pattern right away. Led Zeppelin after all on their first 2-3 LPs were just taking old blues numbers and cranking them through a Marshall/Supro or Hi-Watt amp while Plant added his swagger to it. There are only so many notes in music which means sooner or later they will get played by many others. This Billy Squire song intro uses the low E string while NFBM does not during the intro of that song. NFBM also uses the high e string quite a bit while the Billy Squire intro does not so there are differences, plus it does not sound the same. As a guitarist/musician I can automatically pick out where 95% of all songs I hear are being played an roughly what scales, modes, triads, arpeggios, etc... are being used before I even put my guitar in my hands. I sort of chuckled reading someone else came to the same conclusion as I did about the pattern for the intro. The NFBV also has Jimmy Page using either a Phaser or Flanger as well to get a different feel to the song. That would fit the vanilla vibe of Billy Squire's music. I will say this is use to be a good song to play live as a lot of people like the song & it seems to get chicks out of their seats once the song kicks in. Yes, the guitar solo on the Billy Squire version isn't the greatest. it is a Pentatonic spaz out and appears he probably doesn't even pay attention to the chord changes and just does what I refer to as the Pentatonic Spaz. Which just means no attention to chord changes or the backing track the rhythm guitarist is playing. A very common noobie mistake.
