I think the most hilarious part of this, to me, is the part where this bison not only shoves the fence open, but walks through, backs to the side, and lets it go like he's closing a door. "Right, I'm out. I'll just shut this for you... I might be a large, powerful animal. But I am at least a POLITE, large, powerful animal."

I concur, I think that dang noise did rile him up. If he wanted out and was allowed, I would have opened it for him - though that opening where he went through sure appeared intended as the wire seemed free on that one side.

If you're responsibly caring for this animal, you would know this is not a buffalo. It's a bison. Cape buffalo live in Africa. Water buffalo live in Asia. The horned animals with the shoulder hump that live in North America are bison.

dano Mano You probably don't know this but Bison bison (the correct name which designates the American Bison {plains} from the B. bison athabascae {Wood or Mountain) have been called buffalo by Europeans since we first saw them. Since 1616. We have known for a long time that it is an incorrect designation but it works. It's considered a colloquialism. These are fairly common in American English. If it makes you feel better stating these bison/buffler facts and putting someone down then that's your security blanket. See what I did there?

i saw a very young buffalo once,,,get his horn accidentally hung under a 5 strand barbed with fence,,,,it scared him when it scraped along his horn so he quickly raised his head and charged to the middle of the pasture,,as the fence fell off. He had pulled up 60' of 5 wire fence,,,that was mounted on railroad tie posts,,,pulling up all the posts along the way. And he wasnt even mad,,,,just startled for a bit. Ive never forgotten that,,,,,they have lots of power,,,,,

Even the heavier tubed gate look like small wire next to this massive bison, he could of walked right through that also if he had applied a small amount of effort, Even one of my larger qtr horses- maybe 1400lbs can & will (when he thinks you should have fed him hours ago) put one hoof on a vertical rail, then slowly raise up with the other applying a considerable amount of his body weight til the strong tubular steel becomes warped and bends downward- We have a graveyard of gates he’s destroyed over the years, bent & broken beyond repair... If he can do this, the bison who outweighs him by at least 700-800lbs - should have no problem. Need heavier fencing & gates for that big boy!

Good sized dog ? .....cattle would be able to knock down any of that fence if they wanted too, comparing any dog to even a calf is, like comparing your tinnie to a cruise liner, drive both into the pier and see what happens. Where could he get out ? wherever he really wants too.
