What I learned after benchmarking this game is that you need to enable DLSS and frame generation if you want to play above 60 FPS. This applies to all GPUs with their respective resolution targets, for example, the 4060 Ti for 1080p, the 4070-4070 Ti for 1440p, and so on. I will not call this is a optimized game lol.. ya u can still cry like it's a UE5 it's have ray tracing 😂
@azazelleblack

The resolution setting changing to 66 or 65 is because you're leaving your mouse resting on the resolution setting when adjusting another setting on the keyboard. It applies to both. Also, the reason the gap between ray-tracing and rasterization changes as the resolution goes down is because ray-tracing difficulty increases (roughly) exponentially with resolution, while raster workload goes up in a more linear fashion with the overall pixel resolution. This is why NVIDIA pushes DLSS so hard; to prepare everyone for the coming future of path-traced games.

While some shadow detail and reflection with RT looks nicer, I'm more annoyed with how unrealistically sharp some of the shadows are. Look for example at that statue head laying in the water. There is a shadow on that head of some branch far in the distance. That shadow is perfectly sharp on the RT side. That just looks weird. And there are lots of overly sharp shadows like that. It gives me uncanny valley vibes. [edit] Watched most of the video, and my conclusion is that the shadows just aren't done very well in this game. RT has clear issues imo and cinematic also has clear issues. High without RT has my preference, but lacks some of the detail.

I think the resolution scale does not actually allow you to fine tune? I tested at 38% vs 40% and there was a huge difference in FPS compared to 36% vs 38%. 0-38% is DLSS ultra performance and 40-54% is DLSS performance. (The percentages is in even numbers because they don't allow you to do odd numbers, you save an odd number setting and it will secretly change to an even number)

I was really excited to test out the Black Myth: Wukong benchmark tool, but the graphics honestly don't justify the performance demands. With ray tracing maxed out vs. turned off, I can barely even tell the difference-it's like they just added it as a checkbox without actually enhancing the visuals. On top of that, you can't even run the game at native resolution since 100% resolution scale still forces Nvidia DLAA. The tool itself doesn't even feel like a Black Myth: Wukong benchmark; it's more like a forest simulator with no main character or combat scenes in sight. And the recommended 32GB of RAM for max settings? My system barely hit 7GB! This just feels off on so many levels.

? You do realize the 5090 comes out in the next 3-5 months, right? We are expecting a 60-75% rasterized performance uplift, and 2x or more perf in RT. Also, 4K with DLSS quality/balanced looks incredible, so if you combine that with a 5090, you should easily hit 90+ fps at 4K max RT settings without the use of FG.
@Aliothale

@@xblur17 A $2,000 GPU is not a viable option for 99% of PC gamers. It will take 2 more generations after the 5k series before the mid range cards and consoles are hitting 5090 performance. Which will line up with new consoles in 2027-2030. So yes, 4k gaming won't be viable until 2030+.

I disagree because time has nothing to do with performance, as time goes by so will the games become more demanding. It’s not like games will stop progressing in terms of graphical fidelity, sure, we will have more powerful consoles over time but so will games become more demanding. Consoles can already dictate or whichever word you used, but they would cost an arm and a leg to do so. It’s like that constant fight over cameras on smartphones vs mirrorless cameras: “sooner or later you won’t need a professional camera because smartphones will catch up” as if the technology in those professional cameras isn’t progressing as well lol
@Aliothale
Ай бұрын
@@peek_exe You're not understanding. Console hardware dictates industry standards in game development. That means the graphics, the optimization, etc. PC hardware is completely irrelevant to that, and some PC exclusive games ignore it. The current target optimization for game developers is still 1080p with a 30 or 60fps locked minimum. We can make games that look like Pixar movies, but we don't have the hardware to realistically run it in real time. Until consoles set the standard for 4k, game developers will only develop and optimize around the consoles hardware capabilities. Games cannot become "more" demanding during a consoles lifespan because they have set hardware. This is why Sony and Xbox release "Pro" variants now, it makes them more money, and progresses the graphics capabilities during a consoles generation to sell more/prettier games. We're slowly getting to a 4k standard, but it's still miles away.
@peek_exe

@@Aliothale So when a new Playstation and Xbox come out, games wont be more demanding? They will just continue using UE5 and other engines while consoles just become more powerful? We have had this 4K debacle since the Playstation 4 Pro, then Playstation 5 was supposed to be 8K lol, you even have 8K label on the bloody box, but it isnt possible nor will it ever be, because as consoles progress, so do games. Consoles will always be mid range as long as they are around 500 dollar mark, thats the issue. If Sony and Microsoft create the next console with the flagship GPU in mind and increase the price of those consoles at least 2 times or even 3 times, then you will have actual 4K consoles that can run games above 60FPS with all the bells and whistels enabled. Not to mention that GPUs prices are through the roof, Sony and Xbox have to come up with a way to create a next gen console for 500 dollars, which is becoming more and more difficult to do, l do agree that consoles dictate the market to an extent, but more so in a negative way, because an average lifecycle of one console is roughly 7 years, which is simply too long in this day and age. Maybe if they shorten the lifespan to 3 years, maybe consoles could keep up with the 4K standard and decent framerates. Take a look at recent games for example, such as Alan Wake 2, maybe PS5 could run games properly during the early stages of its lifecycle, but it is already struggling with games such as Alan Wake 2 with a lot of compromises, and its been out for only 4 years now.

THats crazy... devs are increasingly throwing "fck it thats a waste of money" at game optimization. Since such a behemoth as the rtx 4090 barely makes 2023/2024 Triple A titles, around 100 fps at 1440p. This card should run EVERY title at max settings at 300 fps + considering how much power it has and how much it costs. Game creators should get a slap on the head and politely with their tails tucked between their legs return to the standard of games that in mix medium-high options are optimized for the card/s that currently occupy no. 1 & 2 in terms of users (which gives us GTX 1650 and RTX 3060). These cards should be sufficient for 60+ fps without major drops on high at 1080p and 40 fps at 1440p. Everyone is now wiping their faces with the fact that there is DLSS and framegen, so there is no need to optimize. Tooooo bad that the game looks like shit after turning on even mid FSR/DLSS etc. Wukong, another game to skip, im not going to play unoptimized crap on my 4080 only to get like 50 fps native 1440p xD pathetic.

Temporal AA and more modern versions of it like DLSS and DLAA are the best thing that happened to game antialiasing. MSAA was too damn slow while often not being that effective (you can see this clearly in newer games that support it), and purely post-process options like SMAA and FXAA had their merits in their speed, but were even less effective than MSAA. A temporal form of antialiasing does not guarantee an overly soft image (DLSS, DLAA, Epic's TSR aren't exactly soft), and even when a poor TAA implementation does result in a softer image, it remains very cheap and by far the one that produces the cleanest image when compared to older solutions.
@WrexBF
Ай бұрын
@@archetype6351 All Temporal AA methods inevitably produce a softer image, especially during motion. Utilizing data from previous frames or AI-generated data, always results in blurriness and artifacts. That's a fundamental limitation of temporal AA. SGSSAA is better than MSAA at handling sub-pixel shimmering and fine texture details, and it doesn't smear vaseline all over the image like temporal AA. It’s more performance-intensive than MSAA, but I’d take SGSSAA any day over this temporal AA mess.

Strobing / flickering effect during live testing that is not present in the recording (since it has stable framerate), could be explained by VRR, to be more specific LFC would be to blame. When there are a lot of low fps spikes LFC engages too often and the monitor outputs each frame twice making the image appear momentarily brighter (depends on monitor how noticeable it is) This is something I've noticed in my own monitor when playing games with messy frametimes and occasional stutter like Elden Ring. An easy way to replicate this kind of behaviour is to cap a game's fps near the lower threshold of your monitor's VRR window (for example if your VRR range is 40-120, cap your game to 41-42) and you should easily see the effect happening. Frame generation, could be inducing low fps spikes that aren't visible in the frametime graph that cause this kind of behaviour, idk if it's possible though, just what I think happens
