They both seem to be doing pretty well, Brett! Hopefully, they should do well over the summer🤞

Good to see both your seedlings doing well. I would love to try a black sapote fruit but they're impossible to buy in the UK, so like yourself I'm trying to grow one here. Not easy but a nice challenge. Thanks for the update.

They do have them quite often at myexoticfruit but I couldn’t bring myself to pay £20 for a single fruit 😂

They look lovely. I've tried this fruit for the first time a few months ago. Nothing amazing, very average. It is the lowest on sugar persimmon I ever tried, like 5/10. The name "chocolate sapote" does correspond to it's taste, which is nothing like real chocolate, but exactly like chocolate pudding with a floral aftertaste.

I always assumed the name came from it’s appearance when ripe rather than flavour. I wonder if the apparent flavour is due to the psychological effect of how it looks 😁

@@lyonheart84 texture is 100% like chocolate pudding, flavor at least 50%.

@TropicalGardeningCyprus lol that doesn’t really appeal to me much as I’m not much of a pudding person 😂

@@lyonheart84 😅 well, it's even worse , as it's an average to bland pooding 😂 I've never liked average tastes, I like them strong. But, I still would plant a black sapote if I didn't have one, because of it's timing of ripening. It ripens in late winter, when there's nothing else here except citruses and loquats.

@TropicalGardeningCyprus I’ve heard many people say the fruit is delicious so perhaps the ones you’ve had are a poor cultivar or picked too soon ? They might not sweeten up properly once picked ?
