It's amazing how similar your build is to mine. Even the coal forge was almost exactly like mine. I used 2in. Of kaowool and refractory from Canadian forge. Also itc 100. I have 2 burners. I have an opening door on my forge. I mean almost exactly the same. Thank you for sharing. Oh, I live in southwest Ohio.

Roughly how heavy would you say this was? Is it fairly portable? I need to be able to cart mine around where I will be using it.

What burners are you using? I just got a 30lb propane tank. I love the safety and how you have no Kaowool exposed.

Do you often use both burners? And also are the burners from devil forge?

It depends on the project. One burner works good for small projects but then when i do bigger projects or a few at a time i use both. And yes they are devils forge burners

So I am about to order all the stuff from Canadian farrier supply that I can. And I just have some questions before I do. So they are only selling the kast o lite 30 in 1 gallon (roughly 9.5 lbs they say) or 2 gallons tubs, I am wondering how much of that I need to order. I am planning on going 2 inches thick with the wool, was 1 250ml jug enough rigidizer for the build or should I order 2? Also how much more 1inch thick wool would you have to buy to double line the forge with it? I want to buy enough 1 inch to double it up because what I’ve read has said that it’s easier to work with over the 2.

Im sure 4 linear feet would be enough. Get 2 bottles of rigidizer. As for the castable i have no idea how much you need i bought the big bag and there was about a quarter of it left over.

And because of this virus wrecking havoc every supplier is sold out of most supplies too now

CG Smithing awesome thanks for the feedback, I’ll get the 2 rigidizers and try 2 gallons of kastolite for now and see how far that gets me. Ya it’s really crazy, hopefully the world can get back to normal soon.

Is there a forge function reason why you went for a round forge instead of a square ish one?
