PLEASE READ THIS: The gyroscope does work, only that most people are using it wrong!!!!!! The phone is an outdoor phone. It has an extra strong GPS so it can be used for navigation in the wild or geocashing. You dont havt to hold it parallel to the floor but in a 45 degree angle tilt it backwards while looking at it. Just as if you were normally holding your phone and writing. And if you turn now, you will see that the gyroscope works perfectly fine!!!!! @geekystuff

Reckon this is a fair summation. I managed to pick one up second hand (I say second hand, but it's basically brand new) today and I have to say, i'm quite impressed for 100 notes. One thing that staggered me is the volume compared to most other phones, loud as you like. As for the build quality you weren't wrong, it'd like a tank mated with a bunker. If I manage to destroy this phone i'll consider it an achievement!

PLEASE READ: I was going to buy this phone but... looking here and there on various forums, and the Blackview's own forum (bbs.blackview.hk/viewforum.php?f=142), i discovered that it has the usual, common, chinese bugs and botched hardware. - Gyroscope has apparently been soldered in reverse in many phones (maybe all of them), so the applications using it are all screwed up - Strange noise can be heared trough the speaker when certain applications are opened when muted - rattling sound inside the hull, maybe the battery not firmly installed - light detector not working properly indoor, switching from dark display to fully lit - problems charging battery due to overheat, the chaging circuit stops charging when temperature is mildly higher - compass not working in many phones (maybe due to gyro) - camera button not working in many phones - low volume in video recording - receiver hears echo during calls from bv6000 - proximity sensor not working properly in many phones This one costs a little bit more than other crappier chinese phones, so i suggest to wait a little more, waiting for blackview to fix those issues.

Hi Luigi, thanks for that information. Ive only experienced the Gyro Problem on my BV6000, I suppose its pot luck when buying phones from China, luckily mines been ok. Thanks for the review. How many hours screen on time do you get from one charge? The smaller size of the screen, 4.7" is far more important than the 720p resolution when it comes to battery durance. 720P isn't to bad on a 4.7" screen it's almost iPhone 7 territory. 4200mAh should easily do 8 to 10 hours having a 4.7" screen.

iv had the phone a couple of weeks now. its fine enough for what I'm needing. only downside is the aux/headphone port being so deep. on another note if u don't know about the app cpu-z you should download it from the app store it tells you everything about the spec of the phone. temps etc. would be good for checking if the Chinese phones are what they say.

Realistic options for people who want something very punctual: if the battery is urgent and nothing more: its probably your best choice ... btw: i have readed that the weight is considerable and it tooks hours to charge but ey... its part of it. Generally though: I think the X1 is way more balanced and got an excellent performance / price ratio : Octa-Core 1.5 GHz, 4GB ram, 64GB mem , two 13 Megapixels cameras and ip68 ( it comes with Lollipop but can be upgraded to 7.0) . Curious Bv, tho! and now in his 18k gold edition the battery is a must!! :O

Nice video. I think the battery is 4500mAh. Just tested it with a ZKE USB meter and it came out to about 17.9 Wh, including some overhead the 4500mAh seems to be true. EDIT: See comment below; overhead 4500-4800 is to low, wrong calculation on my side. 4200'ish seems right. Since last update do you have ''problems'' with the power button? It takes a good second for the unlock screen to popup. For the screen, if you don't like the blue-ish tint go to screen -> miravision and put the color temp back to the lowest setting. Go to blue light filter and put it back 1 tick. That gave me the almost perfect 6500K color temp and way better colors overall.

Hello there, that's good news about the battery. the screen delayed has occurred on some occasions with me yes. But it wasn't enough for me to include it in the video. it only happens sometimes though. I'll have a play with the screen colour. Cheers, do you like the phone?
@RobertowNL
8 жыл бұрын
Great to hear that its not just me that has some problems with the delay. Since the last update i had some more problems with it, but i guess ill just to a reset. I do like the phone, agree with you on most of your review :). The GPS is great, gyro here seems to work a little bit better than in your model. It keeps going north like intended (it is slow). No complaints in general; few small issues that i would like to have fixed but that is nitpicking. It seems to fix all issues of the former model that seems to be not as sturdy as this one.
@StYxXx

Really 4500? Because the printed text on the battery says 4200 only. Would be nice if more people could test it (could vary)
@GeekyStuff

@RobertowNL
8 жыл бұрын
Well the overhead could be a little more. So that would mean its under 4500. I will drain the battery now and do a new test with my ZKE USB load. Might be me that did something wrong. Edit: Found the teardown. Guess the charging has more overhead than i calculated the first time. Edit 2: Yes, made a stupid mistake in my benchmark spreadsheet. Sorry for the misinformation. Makes more sense now; 4200 is probably right. Anyway will do a new test with my meter again and let you know the results, the 17,9Wh input is probably right.

I have the same phone. The outside is very good but it haze problems with charging and rebooting. Its slow and it keeps rejecting the SD card after a day of us. I have looked on the web page of blackview and a lot of people have problems with rebooting. And if you contact the factory they will not contact you back. The charger that comes with it will just fit so sometimes it will make no contact. If your looking for a fast phone don't by this one. Apps keep crashing. It is waterproof and shoke proof. At first the compass was pretty wrong but after doing the calibration movements for a few times it now works great. Had to figure out how to move exactly because doing it wrong will leave you with a compass showing the wrong direction. The problem I have is with the gyro: It's like the axis are swapped. It just doesn't make sense when I move it. It seems to be totally random. A roll is like a pitch. And: The phone doesn't work with SIM cards I tried. It just shows "no service". :/ Still trying to figure that out. I hope it's not a hardware failure. [edit: blackview just posted - 5 minutes after my comment - on their board that it is a firmware issue and that there's a new version]

I HAD to switch to another Home Launcher. The stock BV6000 launcher didn't have an App Drawer. It was like an iPhone in that every single thing you install has it's own icon/shortcut on the home screens. Example... I installed Shazam and it create an icon. However, I only wanted to use the Shazam widget so there is no need to have an icon for the app on the home screens. Well guess what... I had both a Shazam icon and a separate Shazam widget on the home screen. And removing the app icon from the home screen means uninstalling it. Some forums say just create a folder and dump icons you don't want to see in there, but why when you can just have an app drawer? So I am using the free version of "Nova Launcher" at the moment and it's fantastic! I also installed the "Google Keyboard". I use "Google Now" on a tablet I have and it's nice... but something about "Nova Launcher" makes my brain happy. =) Just thought I'd share. Oh and if I hold the MENU button on phone, it brings up a Search screen and Google Search was set as the default. It also had the microphone for voice searching. So the only thing missing is the Google logo. Maybe that will work for you.

Hi! thank you for the useful review! I'm interested on buying this chinese phone but i'm somehow concerned about it because last china phone i bought had a huge quantity of bugs in the OS, rendering it quite unusable, so i want to ask you if there are any major bugs in the android OS of this phone (apps crashing to home screen, sudden wiping of personal contents, icons moving themselves at every boot and weird things like these) or is it stable? maybe very stable? are there any OTA updates? can i use all 32 gb of internal memory for installing apps or there is a smaller partition for them like in many other models? Are there any issues for thos peculiar charging cable? Thank you for helping us decide, i really apreciate your videos :) tt
@GeekyStuff

Hello Luigi! Cool name ;) There are no OS bugs to report, this phone works really well. The OS is very stable and apps dont crash. The gyro-meter does not work, thats the main thing really. You can use most of the 32GB storage, but the OS takes up a little too. The charging cables are absolutely fine, just like normal ones, but with a bigger connector. :)

Call quality I would say an 8, but its not something I really worry about as ive never had a phone with poor call quality and I don't think I ever will.

How is the camera speed? Does it snap a photo instantly or does it take forever like in Sony Xperia M4 Aqua and some other new Sony phones?

I just got this phone and I can say the camera speed is fantastic! Fastest shutter speed I've ever had. Must be about a 10th of a second. However, per this video, I noticed a graininess to my photos I take indoors at max resolution. My Samsung Galaxy S3 took clearer photos ... but I didn't get the BV6000 for it's photo ability. It was a nice surprise that at least now I can capture true moments versus posed moments. =)

My bv6800 is now getting its third screen. Not impressed at all... The call quality is poor as are the cameras. My Huawei mate 20 pro knocks the socks off it.

Bough this phone for 207 dollars last year June. I had it 2 months over a year. After 6 months the camera no longer produced quality images even set to 12megapixels but of a crappy flip phone type. The batary has crapped out just about. Takes 8 hours to completely charge. Phone is a scam. 200 dollars to get your money doesn't even hold up a year after. The camera is completely junk. Avoid. Best to wait and save up to get something real. There is a reason it's cheap. Don't waist your money. It's agimic. Will hold up for awhile by a year things are failing. Buyer beware, there's a reason things are so cheap. Won't buy another.

Can anyone that owns the phone for more than 2 months, give me a feedback of it? Does everything still works, bugs and all the rest? I keep reading/watching positive first impressions about the model but there is a lot of negative feedback from actual users/owners. Thanks!

Why does there always have to be compromise? Why can't say, Xiaomi, make phones as rugged as this in build, but still remain the same under the hood? Annoying.

Blackview who make the phone haven't actually given a depth on this. But if you google IP68, it's about 1.5 meters for upto 30 minutes.

Sorry, would not buy another blackview again. A very poor camera, the speaker is crap, incoming speech distorted. The only positive it is rugged and battery life is not bad.

I cant get answers on how to get it to use 4G??? It always has 3G and AT&T is getting ready to terminate 3G usage so only 4G phones will work or at least that is what they told us. AT&T sent us a new free phone no plan changes or anything just because we were using 3G and it will no longer work after April 30th. I am trying to figure out how to get the 4G to work since it is a 4G phone.

the phone doesnt come with an adequate user manual (or one at all) there doesn't appear to be a clear functioning option for text tone changing. anyone figure it out? ringtone changed with ease as well as notification tone. still does factory MMS tone
@GeekyStuff
8 жыл бұрын
Yes the manual is rubbish - I forgot to mention that in the video! If you open the text message 'app' and then click at the top right, those 3 dots in a line, then click settings and then notifications and select ringtone that way.
