Instead of tweaking the curve to the object, you can select the mesh, go into edit mode, select an entire loop that goes around the object, shift+D to duplicate, right click, separate selection, select the loop you separated, and right click, convert to curve. :)

yes, but when we have a mesh with bad topology, we can't select any loop here dude

@@unn357 I see what you mean, but that's also why good topology is so important. It can make your workflow when detailing far easier. When I first started using blender 1.6 in 2001 shading errors and smooth shading options were terrible. It forced me to get used to plain quad and poly building haha.

Is there a way to maintain the shape of an object while allowing it to change size as it moves along a curve? For instance, when creating feathers for a wing?

Yes, with triagles you can avoid the non manifold issue

hello sir, is it possible you help me quick, i have an object, parented to a triangle like you showed, now i have made a Arrow path from a plane and converted into curve object, all apply with ctrl+ a. but when i add the curve to the modifier my objects are stretched and in the curves its very flat..how can i fix this ? i face this issue everytime i use curve to arrange objects along...every single time it messed up, its like i cant use them..can you help me ? everything is on 0,0,0 location, i dont understand whats wrong

Remember, add curve modifier to the triangle, not the object
