The Bloop 2 is a homebuilt ultralight biplane designed to fly slow, not fast. See m-sandlin.info/ for more information. This is a motorfloater, a simple airplane with a small engine, going slow with the pilot out in the open. The Bloop is a true ultralight in the United States, conforming to the FAR Part 103 rules. There are no ailerons, this is a two axis system, using just the rudder and elevator for flight control. For a ground brake I use the nose skid. The Bloop flies slow because of it's low wing loading, which means it has a big wing and a light flying weight. Fair weather flying is the norm, strong wind are unpleasantly bumpy.
The Bloop is a kind of a flying scooter, easy to fly and maintain, and able to take a beating. The pilot flies in the open air flying, in front of the propwash so no windshield is needed.
Perhaps an ultralight airplane like the Bloop, designed to fly like a paramotor, would allow paramotor pilots to transition to an airplane with minimal instruction.
It was lots of fun to float around in the open air and make this video.
My latest motorfloater is a monoplane: m-sandlin.info/Bluebird/Bluebi...
