Have a "mini" orchard with 11 trees, plum, apples, peach and pears. PC showed up two years ago and was really bad this year. I was turned off by the shipping cost of Surround so bought small 1 pound bag of no-name kaolin clay on Amazon. When I sprayed it clogged my sprayer (came with no instructions) so used Surround instructions off of internet. When I cleaned my expensive battery back pack sprayer found sand in bottom of tank from cheap clay. Bad news for electric pump. Also I was worried with the blocking of photo synthesis with the clay, it must block a good percentage of rays. Thanks for the video and sharing knowledge. There must be tons of us out there with the same problem.

Great Idea to share the cost.

Plum curculio has been a big pain for me for years. Most of my apples have been bit and/ or misshapen. Ive used a bonide fruit spray with not much luck. With half a dozen trees, assail probably doesn’t make sense. I might begin to use surround along with the insecticide. Thanks for the video very helpful!

So my husband planted my 2 apple and 2 pear trees today So I'm a new fruit orchard grower. next will be peaches and cherries. Not bad for less than a quarter-acre back yard gardener

When the label only addresses oz/acre, how do you calculate a spot mix for a one or two gallon sprayer? My apples, plums, and pears were invaded by plum cucurlio this year for the first time. The video is great, Thank you

Spinosad, works but still expensive. In canada you need a pesticide license even for surround. No blossoms here yet another 3 weeks. Cheers

i was thinking about a solution to this issue. what if you got a vacuum sealer? seal the product off of oxygen should extend its shelf life.

you could also put in some of those absorbents for moister.

Doesn't sound like we have much of a option when we only have a few trees! I only have 3 pears, 2 plums 3 peaches and 3 apples obviously too many curculio They have infected one of the peach trees the other 2 peaches I just bought and still in pots What in the world to do for this issue! That bottle assail is too expensive for small applications and if it doesn't hold effectiveness over time Not a good fix. Should make small bottles for gardeners!

I know you have to use chemicals in your orchard but for me, I would like to control these pests without chemicals. Have you heard of any nonchemical pest solution?

Check out The Apple Grower by Michael Phillips. He’s organic and yes it is something you can do. Especially with only a few trees. You will be spraying, just a different poison. Know the enemy with lots of research.
