His voice is so dope but what’s even more dope is the fact that the lyrics is basically about him singing whatever he wants as long as it sounds good …. A genius

it has a meaning, but it can only be understood by musicians. it's hard to explain *fully* but the lyrics seem like a half-nonsense song about powerful attraction to someone. but they are a meta-statement to other musicians about the importance of memorable musical lines when composing and performing, the actual words just need to be poetic enough to seem profound. and to hammer the point home the chord progression for the song is Pachelbel's Canon in D major, transcribed to A major. the piece is 300+ years old and i *guarantee* you would recognize it. that's how powerful it's hook is. kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6Km2KOwgJWka2U&ab_channel=diemauerdk

The guy on the couch in his boxers was friend of the band Keith Ober, comedian turned game show host, he was the host of MTV's first big games show "Remote Control" where Adam Sandler, Colin Quinn and Dennis Leary all got their start in show biz. Kieth unfortunately died in 09 of a heart attack at 52. The little guy with glasses near the end you recognized was Paul Shaffer band leader and side kick for Letterman all those years on Late Night. You don't have to react to it unless you want to, but you should check out the live version of this song that they performed in 1996 at the Howard Stern birthday bash, i think it has more views than official video, it's a phenomenal performance!!!! Never mind, just saw you reacted to that version, watching it now Yay!!

The secret behind this song is that the chord progression in the background is the same as Pachelbel's Canon in D, and is essentially the perfect song. A ridiculous number of chart topping songs are simply Canon in D with a rhythmic change. Blues Traveler chose to make a song using that chord progression to mock the music industry's ability to manufacture hits using it. Brilliant songwriting on their part.
