THANK YOU, U save my life making this video For those who wanna do it = easy in 1h20 on jack stand + IF U WANNA go faster: 1/ take a knife OR a drill bit on the cushion …pCHIiiiit = no need to touch the compressor 2/ keep the Old black plastic hood (cap), and the air screw…just change the ‘O’ring + personnaly: if that happen on the AIR SUSPENSION = change Ur shock absorber, in the meantime ;)

There are a few other videos on here for this but one guy commented that to save hassle with removing compressor etc, just use a drill & make a 2mm hole in the airbag that you're replacing (it's getting binned anyways). This deflates the bag and much less grief disconnecting tubes & wires.

I had the same issue with both sides dropping slowly so bought a pair of air springs from Amazon UK for £56 and they looked identical to the Dunlop ones. I fitted them both in about 90 mins and they have been fine so far, even towing a caravan with nearly 100Kg nose weight on the tow bar. I would recommend removing the compressor and checking/drying the desiccant in the dryer of the compressor while you have the car lifted. If it has had to do a lot more work topping up leaking air springs in a damp environment (UK winter/spring) mine was very wet so removed it and dried it in a microwave. There are videos here on YT showing how to do this.

@@vlat18 The most time consuming part of removing the compressor is removing the plastics hiding it. It is very straightforward and again there are videos on YT showing how to do it.

Grazie e saluti

I bought aisprings for the F11 from the supplier mentioned in this video. Super quick delivery, the price is right, the aispring delivered is the current type, featuring a torsional damper which is a requirement for replacement comming from the car manifacturer. A small adition to the procedure presented in the video - the car manifacturer states that the protective gaters are to be replaced only when the existing ones are found on visual inspection to be damaged. Therefore normally the original connector can be left on the pipe, the exising gater is transfrerred to the new airspring.

our cars are at very similar mileage and had at the same time the same problem. Also had this summer to change the rear left side. Had also only left side down from time to time. changed it like you but a few thounsand kilometers later the compressor died 3 times while driving. got lucky that bmw changed the whole compressor unit on garanty.

I just have to mention, so many here are asking for the ISTA software, it is cumbersome to install and setup, requires hardware and takes time to use, and it is NOT required for replacing the air springs! The textbook way to do it, yes, but it does not matter if you skip it. Also the car detects being lifted, but anyway as a precaution, take the fuse, drill or poke a hole in the air springs to release the pressure, replace the springs, put the wheels back on, lower the car to partly compress the air springs, reinsert the fuse and let it start filling, lower completely after a few seconds of filling (just to not lower it down and compress the suspension all the way).

Not sure if you will reply in time, as im going back to bmw tomorrow. 2 months ago, i noticed car was lowered. I turned engine on and it rasied itself back to normal. This then continued, could lower after an hour or sometimes days and then every time i start engine it would go back to normal. So i bit the bullet, took to bmw and then diagnosed as it needing a new air compressor which i paid around £1.3.k to have sorted. Got car back and week later, it lowered. Gutted i am, because i go back tomorrow for them to take car back and look again and tell me know what they think is wrong. Ive suggested they got it wrong and they relaced a part which dodnt need replacing. They are digging heels in and saying a new fault has happened which is causing it to lower again. Have you got any ideas on how i can approach this. Thanks

Best video on the topic that I have seen. There are all sorts of sensors involved, measuring height on both sides and what have you. Did you have to calibrate those?
@gr8899
No theres not all sorts of sensors involved, it is only based on the level sensor. There are no electronics in the air spring, meaning the car will self level to the previous level independent of a different air spring. It does not know how much weight there is in the car, so it will not react to say needing more volume or pressure to fill the new spring. No calibration necessary unless you want to change the ride height.

Grazie MARCO
