I didn't have to drop the strut at all. I just used a 3/8 extension and a shallow 18mm socket. I broke one of the extensions, but the others held up. took me about an hour and a half per side. I was taking my time.

@@fkingbear1834 Thanks man, unfortunately the Bentley manual doesn't help too much with a lot of AWD specifics. I got the job done a couple months ago and the xDrive wheel bearings are pressed into the knuckles instead of bolted on. Vehicular DIY's car is RWD. Cheers!

Bolt removal was killing me. If you have issues save yourself some time and heat up the tip of the bolts on the hub for 3-4 minutes each with a basic LP torch and they'll turn like butter.

There is one on here. Not fcp. Really good info though. It uses cheap tools on amazon to press put the old and install the new.
any other diy for this doesn't mess with the pinch bolts, and instead they just turn the wheels a bit to get the suspension out of the way. good job overcomplicating this...

Great video, just quick one regarding X5 F15 M50D 2017 oil change. In Uk my vehicle has been serviced from new twice it’s been in the garage the oil level is 1ltr of oil short. When I contact the dealership they said that they never fill to the maximum mark ie electronic readings and dip stick. There excuse is due to the engine developers a flood think they said it’s the DPF it makes the oil level to much. I purchased the vehicle new and from BMW the oil level was on maximum and the dip stick also shown maximum. Have you ever heard this excuse or is this a new thing. Be grateful if anyone has heard about this 👍

I thought the wheel bearing replacement came with a grease fitting. Who is so powerful, that they can't install a grease fitting? Someone out there is very powerful, or just doesn't care. A grease fitting is a sign of caring. Paycheck first, quality second. Settle for a greasy paycheck, and a dry bearing.
@fcpeuro

You'll notice these are a pre-pressed sealed bearing. the grease is sealed in, and these are meant to be replaced over time as opposed to serviced with a grease fitting
