Alright guys, my 2017 BMW i3 rex is finally out of warranty and of course, some little issues have started to pop up. This car has literally been my favorite daily driver I have ever had. BMW did a great job on the i3 and recently with so many used i3's hitting the market, we're seeing the popularity of this car go up.
The warranty from BMW is 4 yr/50,000 mi basic, 4 yr/50,000 mi powertrain. Really there were essentially no issues with the i3 over my ownership time and anything that did arise, BMW took care of quickly and easily.
We have finally made it to the motherland of EV's where we are seeing many companies release their own EV's and most of these cars are seeing better range and technology than earlier EV's. Surprisingly the i3 with mostly the same design for its entire run is still a very competitive vehicle in the EV space. The norm seem to be 200 miles of range for current EV's being released and with Tesla's entry level Model 3 mid-range offering 240 miles of range, I'm beginning to question demand for the i3 going forward.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed the video and some of my thinking regarding keeping the car past the end of warranty vs. switching it out for another EV like the Tesla model 3 mid range.
