Excellent commentary and explaination of each step taken to do this repair. I have an 09 with this same engine and have already tackled the valve covers, water pump and numerous other jobs on this vehicle. BMW seems to do nothing simple and everything expensive as you noted. I do most of my own repairs on my vehicles and family member but I really hope I don't have to do this no time soon. One thing about it is that you have give many a good guide/ example to follow. Great job Sir.

This vide was extremely helpful in replacing the water pipe. I watched several other videos on that particular repair, but your methodology was extremely helpful in making sure all of the steps were easier. I had a different car/engine combination. I had an e64 with the N62B44 engine. However all your steps translated - especially disconnecting all of the many electrical connectors. There was one cable with a single wire that I had to splice and add a spade connector because I couldn't find where it went. You are awesome!

Great video. I would like to add a little trick that I used on the intake. There was no way I could get my hand to the back of the intake to unplug those 3 clips. I cut a 3inch piece off of a 2x4 I raised the front of the intake and stuck the piece of wood underneath. This raised the intake up and off of the intake studs. I then was able to pull the intake forward a couple of inches, enough to get my hand in the back and unclip the plugs.

I followed your process for disassembly as I clearly had a coolant leak in the valley pan area...but did NOT have any coolant leaking from the timing cover weep hole. When I got the intake off it was a nasty mess. Coolant had obviously been leaking in this area for a long time. BUT, when I removed the valley pan itself there was zero evidence of a leaking valley pan seal, no evidence of a leaking transfer pipe at the front or rear. I'm wondering how likely it is that either the head gaskets are leaking the coolant into the valley or perhaps the heater core pipe from the water pump that runs under the intake could be the culprit? As the valley pan itself was curiously full of coolant and grime I just have a hard time thinking is was the valley pan seal leaking. The seal looked to be in excellent condition, still soft, and well torqued.

Good video. You replace the water pump as well? Hear the impellers are plastic and prone to failure. Saw the KC hat, where you at?

Thanks woody. Very nice video about the never ending coolant topic for n62😅did save and will save people thousands of hard earned cash. I have almost everything on hand now to do it to my 7 series. Just missing the new seals for the intakes I thought they are 2 rows of 4 seals each side. Or are there 8 individual seals? Nah ist's 2*4 I guess

Does anyone know if there are 2 pcv’ on this engine or just one? I replaced the pcv on the right side, but would like to know if there is one more

Yes there are two PCV valves. In the 2004 645Ci that I have, the original valve cover has an integrated PCV the same as the drivers side. This has been changed and you cannot purchase a direct replacement. Instead there is an add on hose with a PCV that connects to the new passenger side valve cover. Took me forever to figure this out. Hope it helps.
