He had a fantastic voice. Never really figured why Rick was in the group since he didn't play an instrument and only sang backup. Maybe they wanted a blonde guy to go with all the brunettes?

I saw them at the All Iowa Fair in 1976. They were a blast. Even got to have pictures taken with Bo, Mike and Rick. I don't know where the pics are now. They were really down to earth. Bo will always be my favorite, even after all these years. Sad to hear that both Mike and Rick are gone.

Just now discovering Bo Donaldson and The Heywood and doing a 'deep dive' of their music tonight. So far everything else I've been hearing of theirs I like so much more than "Billy Don't Be A Hero". So far "The House On Telegraph Hill" is my favorite track of theirs.

On this day in 1975 {March 29th} Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods performed "The House on Telegraph Hill" on the ABC-TV afternoon weekday program 'American Bandstand'... "The House on Telegraph Hill" did not make Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; but between 1972 and 1975 the Cincinnati, Ohio group had five records make the Hot Top 100, with one reaching the Top 10, "Billy, Don't Be A Hero", it peaked at #1 {for two weeks} on June 9th, 1974...

I got my butt whipped that day. I remember watching them on Bandstand that day! I could be a rotten kid at times. Temper tantrums. A well deserved whipping that day

Mike Gibbons and Rick Joswick have passed. Bo still performs with other musicians. David, Scott, Nick, and Gary are still around and busy with their lives.

Patty Workman...me too! Stunned and so sad when I heard that he and Rick passed away...in my mind, and heart, they will always be as they were in this clip. How I miss the 70's and the Heywoods!

@@birdsfan57 I agree . They were so underrated. I remember on DEC 26th when there was a rumor that Rick had passed.Poor Bo , he was trying to find out any info, I don't think he believed it. I was at work and just kept checking my phone to hear good news. Sadly, when I got home , turned my PC on Bo had just posted with the sad news. The Bless him , on Sunday April 1st or 2nd , he had to give us the news about Mike passing. Both of his lead singers in less than 3 months. I've been a die-hard fan since even before "Billy" I was devastated. Still hard to believe :(
