@@DrakesDetailing drake I had a question, what vacuum did you use for the water? Also is it better to pressure wash the leaves or can you use a vacuum and do it? I visited florida for the first time in my life and after a fishing trip I helped a friend clean a boat. And I though about maybe trying to start my own detailing boat business. So watching your videos will really help me with that. Thanks a lot. I’ll definitely be asking for more advice in the future 😂. Keep up the good work. It really helps me and your viewers as well.

Nice job Drake. You explained things in a very direct and easy to understand way, exactly what I needed. Lake Tahoe boating season about to begin, need to try my hand at detailing the boat for the 1st time and create a plan for continued maintenance throughout the summer. A few questions for ya if that's ok, and I apologize ahead of time for some of my basic lack of knowledge of detailing. Note, the boat is in excellent condition, no fading or yellowing. It has been keep in wonderful shape, I just want to keep it that way. 1. I acid washed all the grime off the boat, is there anything I should do to the surface prior to applying the Jescar? 2. I used the degreaser to clean the upholstery, once complete, should I rinse the upholstery with water then seal it with anything to protect it, or is it good to go? 3. during the degreasing of the upholstery, some of the degreasing mixture will undoubtedly get on the interior fiberglass finishes. Do I just need to wipe that off, then apply a coat of Jescar?
@DrakesDetailing
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliments! If there is no oxidation / dullness then all you need todo after the acid wash is apply jescar! After cleaning the seats with degreaser just rinse with water when you are fished with the boat. After you rinse 303 makes a vinyl protectant, 3m and west marine brand work good as well! If the degreaser gets on the walls just wipe off and apply jescar.

So I mainly do boats at marinas now. I will go to peoples homes and do boats but I don’t do many in drive ways like this. So because I do a lot of boats at marinas. I do not use a water tank and generator. But, for my first 4 1/2 years in business I was doing a lot of mobile details and the smaller boats in peoples driveways. So I did have a 65 gallon water tank and generator on my truck. I will suggest you have a generator and a least a 65 gallon water tank if you do a lot of small boats in driveways, and you do cars.

I have never had any issues with pressure washing a boat... I know some people say it’s bad.. but in 7 years of doing it I have never had an issue. I only use the power stroke one from Walmart, it’s about $250. If you keep the oil changed it last pretty long. I usually go through about one a year... but I use it everyday. It’s light and easy to carry around if you have too.

Hey man love your videos. I work as a detailer for a small company and I notice you don't use a buffing compound at all. When I detail boats, my boss wants me to buff the boat before hitting it with wax. We use wool buff pads instead of the foam ones you use. Is this a necessary step, or would the foam pad make the job that much easier? Because with all the steps my boss makes me take, I do in 5 8-hour days what you did in this 5 hours.
@DrakesDetailing
3 жыл бұрын
that's correct, I use compound all the time, just not in this video ha. this customer was only paying for wax so that's what we did. Check out my other videos for compound tips. 5 to 8 hours is about right, some of our jobs take weeks ha

What type and size pad your using on the 80 and why? Also what do you think about the purple wool pad from lake country
@DrakesDetailing
4 жыл бұрын
I’m using the 3inch finishing microfiber pad from lake country on the pxe80. It’s thin and doesn’t soak in a lot of wax. I have only tried the purple wool a few times and it was ok, works better for cars in my option. I don’t really need it, because I do all of my cutting with a wool pad on a rotary. I only use da’s or my flex for finishing and waxing.

How often do you apply the Vescar sealer? If not every time, what is your flow?
@DrakesDetailing
4 жыл бұрын
I typically recommend customers to have us re apply every 4 months! 6 months max! Also it comes down to how you maintain the boat. If you use Jescar power lock then a week later go scrub it with Dawn dishwashing soap and bleach all of that sealant is going to be ripped right off so therefore your boat is no longer protected. So once the boat is sealed you want to keep it maintained with a wash and wax soap like orpine wash and wax and have it reapplied every four months.

Get the 6.5 for the griots 6inch backing plate or you can get a 5 inch backing plate for the griots as well! As for pads, each pad will do things differently... I will use micro fiber pads to apply wax... but in this case I needed extra cutting power so I used a cutting foam pad

I have a bunch of black rub mark and just marks that won’t come off with scrubbing...I used starbrite stuff and then did barkeepers friend today....it DEF got the white, white but there are still just scuff marks from whatever it may be...maybe some blood marks too....would you suggest this 20% bleach\25% purple power/water solution to get those irritating marks off? What could I do wrong? Or better yet how can I do it wrong? If I wet it down and then spray it/scrub it and don’t let it dry am I good to go?

Hi! When cleaning compartments with carpet, what product do you use (purple power)? and I'm assuming you just shop vac out the water wash? Thanks!

Hey Drake, great videos. I have my 1st boat detail coming up and I have quick question. His boat is lightly oxidize and I was looking for a 1step process for him. I typically one step on cars with a DA and a yellow rupes pads. Do you know if the yellow pad will have a similar cut as the Lake Grey. I have a Rupes LR15. I love Jescar powerlock+ so that with a Grey pad looks to be awesome. Keep up the great work. Any other tips please send them my way

I'm an auto detailer but had someone hmu about detailing a 22ft boat but I have no pricing for a boat obviously just the sheer size I have to charge more, but is there anything special or different or can I go about cleaning it like a car, which I don't see why not. But just checking

is it okay to wet sand (1000 grit) and compound over the boat decals and pinstriping on the hull? Not sure if you are supposed to avoid them or if it's okay to go over them while you are doing the gelcoat.

Hey man! Same psi, it’s only like 2300. You just hold the want much farther away from the seats then you would the hull.
