Good to that you and your family made it out ok. FYI that motor is only hydro-locked. pull the spark plug and drain plug , flush with some 90% rubbing alcohol threw carb and motor. drain it again Refill fluids and try to start

Me my wife and boys house was hit by tornado in Sand Springs Oklahoma in March 2015 and there was some crazy damage and alot of rebuilding. But we also got to replace older stuff with brand new stuff so u can look at it that way! Just keep on keepin on and all the hard work will pay off. Also u chasn that chicken was funny as hell bro!

Man I hate if for all of y'all. What a hardship to go through. On the boat situation..I'm late to this project..but have you considered finding a small shaft drive motorcycle engine? You could adapt up the shafts and direct drive it at high RPM and get more thrust from your drive. Finding a light small shaft drive bike would be fairly easy...and usually not expensive.
@ronaldhotboy

Thanks Chris, it was kind of difficult. A lot of people have been telling me the same thing brother. If the engine that I have now doesn't work that will be my very next move. Thanks a lot for the help bro
@firemanjim324
8 жыл бұрын
Ronald, that engine can be saved...... drain it, flush it, drain, flush..... clean the carb.... sand the coil contacts and magnet plate on flywheel. put a new plug and fresh gas.... good to go..... I know from experience..... I just did one last month for a friend. kids left kart in ditch, then came heavy rains next few days. it was submerged for a week.... Glad you and your family are physically and spiritually OK. It could have been a lot worse. I was out there rebuilding houses after Hurricane Camiel (spelt wrong.... lol) .... Not sure of the name, but it was right after I turned 18 and I turned 42 yesterday, so..... that one.... What ever the name was, that one was bad..... I lived in Franklin, about 30-40 minutes north west of Morgan City. Everything from Slidell to further north west of Franklin was just wiped out. I lived there for a little over a year working. It was definitely an eye opener.....

@firemanjim324
8 жыл бұрын
+ronaldhotboy Yes! Andrew! it was in August I believe. It was bad. I remember there was neighborhood's off the highway going to Morgan City. The entire neighborhood's were wiped out. All the houses reduced to ruble. The National Guard was every where, riding in Humvee's and big troop trucks. I'm sure your mom has told you about it at some point in time.... It was world wide news....

What that boat really needs is a jet ski engine. That little engine you were planning to use is only a fraction as much power as it needs. Absolute minimum would be maybe a 28 hp lawn tractor engine, that might work. You'd have to run a belt drive though, so you could bend the belt 90 degrees like a snowblower attachment on a tractor.

Hope to see you doing videos again, I hope you are doing well. I'm the guy with the two engine go-kart. You inspired me to buy a sportbike again. I've seen your bike here in youtube. I went all out, got really crazy and bought a Yellow 2005 GSXR 1000 with Performance Machine polished wheels. This thing has an insane midrange power. I would read articles that talk about this bikes midrange power, but when you actually hit that gas, man does it GO. It goes from 7500rpm and up. I spanked a lowered, longer swing arm 2004 GSXR 1000 by about 60 feet from 50mph to 140mph. That guy had no smiles for me. He said, my bike is stock. I guess implying that my bike is not, YEAH OK. My bike is stock, suspension and motor, just a Yosimura slip on and just a metal window screen as an airfilter. He has tricks also. It's crazy. Any how, good to see that You could be coming back to your fans.

This island is going through a very difficult economic crisis. It's like a miracle that I have a sportsbike.

Yea brother; the exterior is in perfect condition; I'm constantly struggling to save the interior (never had a chance to fully fiberglass it and the constant rain water and wind destroys any tarp I place over it causing wood to semi rot) If I can save the interior; I will be jumping to the next project: using the same design to recreate the boat out of aluminum. What do you think about that?

ronaldhotboy awesome! I cant wait to see it in aluminum! Maybe you can spray the interior of the wood one with a marine grade polyurithane to help it some? On my 22 foot boat i had issues with the cover filling with water then leaking. What i did was build a pvc pipe frame i set in the boat when its stored so the cover is tented and it solved my rain flooding issue. I also keep the drain plug pulled so if it does get water in it the water drains out instead of pooling and the interior has a chance to dry. Btw its a great looking boat and great design!

ronaldhotboy oh! I almost forgot! You know how you were having issues with it not having much power? I am thinking its the low rpm of the engine you were running. Maybe look into a 2 stroke motor like from a chainsaw? Higher rpm like a jetski runs. Most chainsaws get 14,000 rpms and there are some 22 hp models you can get cheap at yardsales or pawn shops.

Hillbilly Holler a few people told me the same thing once before; I already purchased an engine twice as big so I will use that first to see what happens then finally upgrade to an engine like you said with 22hp or greater and high rpms. Thank you for being so helpful brother!

ronaldhotboy you can get more rpms out of most small engines by removing the govener but you have to upgrade the valve springs so you dont get valve float and bend a valve. You gain more hp that way too. So you can cheaply take a 6.5 hp 5k rpm engine and make it a 8 or 9 hp 7,500 rpm monster. You have to drill out the jets if you do it for more fuel flow. Too bad you werent closer i have several engines including a 250cc with 4 speed trans and reverse, and a 498cc stroker.

Sometime this week Connor. I haven't done anything special (just sprayed the corners with flexseal). Im waiting on the house to be completed so we can finish the upgrades. Thanks bro

All I can say is wow what a mess down there. As for your boat you have gone from one extreme to another. First time you were under driving the pump then you tried to over drive it for the power you had. Looking at the pump you are using I'm guessing it's was powered by a 60 to 80 hp motor turning 6,000 to 7,000 rpm. So you have to find the power curve for the engine that was powering that pump, so you can match the pump shaft speed to the power of your next engine will be putting out. My gut feeling if you power that pump with a 10 to 12 Hp engine you are going to use a 1.5 to 1 reduction to the pump shaft. 3600 rpm on the engine will give you 2400 rpm on the pump would be a good starting point. Seeing how you enjoy playing with boats, may I strongly suggest you get The Nature of Boats by Dave Gear. I have design, built and repowered boat's and Dave's book is my go to guide. He put things into a format that is easy to read and understand even more important is work with! Yesterday I just picked up a new boat that is going to be played with... It looks to be an early one of these www.powercatboat.com/ It's all of 10 feet long and 5 feet wide...

You are so right about that Kriss. I plan on doing just that once we get ready to install the new engine. Do you think a 1:1 will work as well? Thanks a lot for the book recommendation; Im going check it out now. Thank you for the AWESOME help!

I don't know what motor you are going to use when you put the new one in but if you use the same motor you had it's a NO. To drive that pump 1:1 you are going to need something around 25 to 35 hp at 3600 rpm is my guess. This is why I commented on knowing what the power curve was for the engine that the pump was coupled to first. The load on the prop goes up logarithmic as shaft speed goes up, meaning it's not a straight line, in fact it is a curve and not always the best one for the engine used. Down where you live mud motors are common, the props they you are fine pitch and 5 to 6 inch two blade Where that pump maybe the size around most have four or five blades and much higher pitch. I know if you are not use to working with the stuff it can be very confusing. If you want to use something direct drive I would look at using something like this mudmotorkit.com/?gclid=CNKSkuGzqM8CFQ1rfgod-PAD0w prop, but you would still need to start it out of the water or put a clutch in there so you start the engine with no load.
