To my Father, who showed me the brilliance of Bob Seger. The four concerts we shared together and the fifth which you were sincerely missed. A tear fills my eyes when I hear this song, but is immediately replaced with the visions of memories shared. This song...this band is forever linked with my family. May others experience the joy and wonderment that my family has enjoyed for so many years.

@itzel1735

Until 1976, Seger and the band DROVE everywhere. “When you’re riding 16 hours and there’s nothing much to do” was the reality for so many bands to play gigs across the US and into Canada. No smart phones, no video, no internet. The ONLY way to build a career was to perform, record, and hope for radio play. Revenue was generated from vinyl sales. They had to produce an album a year. And the record company had to help get radio play. Bob’s first hit, ‘Ramblin Gamblin Man’ was in 1968, but he remained only a locally known artist for years. It seemed artists were allowed time to develop more back then, and had record deals for 3-5 albums. But artists had to be willing to stick it out for years of grinding before they might have a career. No opportunity to record something in your bedroom with garage band, and upload to KZitem. Challenges today are different. But I hope good songs and talented musicians still get heard. ✌🏽

Of course, when we got there, there were people in our seats. BUT, we told them to sneak back, we would share. They did. lol. I didn't realize he was such a piano man. One of the best I had seen. I love his music. GREAT LIVE.

I understand the desire to sing this song. It makes you feel: it is raw;, emotional. You feel the weariness and the loneliness, but you also feel an irresistible urge to overcome. It's an empowering song.. And, if the lonely wail of that saxophone near the end doesn't move you, you shouldn't be listening to music.

Bob Seger is in the rockin roll hall of fame and the songwriters hall of fame. So you have a huge song selection to figure out. I grew up listening to this man's voice and I have seen him 6 times scene 1977. So I want to hear Jodi Girl from his live Silver Bullet released in 1976. The album Night Moves came out the same year and both albums went platinum in the same year.

One of the best voices & storytellers in Rock-n-Roll History 😎🎙 Saw them ( Bob & The Silver Bullet Band ) back in the early 80's , it was hell of a show ! You gotta check out his first hit..... Ramblin Gamblin Man ( w/Glenn Frye ( Yes The Eagles ) singing backup ) ( R.I.P Glenn ) I also love how Bob hangs back on the vocals and let's the words of the song take it till the end when he belts out that..... " On The Road Again " line ! Thats confidence in his abilities , knowing he could've belted that line anytime but saved it till the end ! One of the greats.... hold on guys it's gonna be a wild ride ! 😉 Then after Ramblin Gamblin Man I hope you have a comfortable chair because the list if his hits is very...............................long ! ✌😎

#BroAction This was an autobiographical song for Bob Seeger. In his younger years he had really long hair. And the bands, when they toured, would ride in those great big busses (like a greyhound), filled with band, roadies, and such. So he’s singing about touring from town to town. The reactions of people when they would see home with that long, long, hair. And bring up there on stage.

There is a similar song by the great singer-songwriter Jackson Browne that honors the roadies - the faceless guys behind the scene who break down and set up the shows from town to town. It's called "The Load Out/Stay" (two songs in one). Another great '70s classic. Highly recommend it!!

The 70s had a lot of changes happening in the music industry. There were and more people able to make albums and you also started to see companies get involved in the industry that weren’t really that interested in music so much as they were interested in making a profit. And so I think a lot of artists found that things were being run differently and there was some friction there. It was this environment that led to the emergence of things like disco. That said, in my opinion, the seventies was the golden era of rock and roll. So many amazing artists and albums were made at that time.
