It was on 1995 that Bobby Kimball came to Santa Cruz de la Sierra - Bolivia. It was a rainy night and the concert was to be cancelled but the band decided to move on. They decided to play all the songs that Bobby Kimball sang while he was Toto's lead singer and Bobby's stuff as well. I was freezing but next to me there was a true fan, he was with his wife and children (I remeber two toddlers) and he was covering his family with a big blue canvas, he offered me shelter and all of us sang the songs and lived the concert... Thank God the rain stopped and we were able to pull out the canvas and started to dance to this song that at least was played 3 times. This band was the one that played, I remember the guitarrist.

Toto is one of my favorite bands. So much talent with the whole band. I was in junior high school when I first heard Toto and I remember singing to the top of my lungs to Africa and hold the line thinking I sounded a lot like Bobby but apparently my parents thought otherwise. My dad had this thing where he would ask me "who is singing that?" I would say Bobby Kimble and he would say "Oh, well you should let us here him sing sometime!" LMBO! Bobby Kimble's voice is legend and I love his humbleness. I would love to meet him someday.

With he exception of his 1979 performance in his prime, this is by a long shot the best I've heard him sing in his older days. Man this performance is awesome. He even hits the vocal run after the high note of 'it's not in the way you say you're mine' pretty close to the original. Something which I've only seen him do in the vid of 1979.

@iamNathanGreen No, I was talking about the original STUDIO video with the original TOTO members , which was 1978. You mentioned 1979 and that's when they performed live at the AGORA . I know Kimball was on his own from 1983 to 1998 though Kimball, Joe Williams, and Steve Porcaro reunited with TOTO, and they released TOTO XX 1977-1997 which led to Kimball returning and being the vocalist again for 1998s MINDFIELDS. I'm old, but I hope this is a little correct?

He sounds as good and as powerful as he did in 1979/80! Most guys with a higher tenor voice in their youth lose the range and or the power. My goodness, Bobby still kicked it HARD! It's a shame that the guitar solo didn't have the power it had back in 80. I know, it wasn't Steve. However even Steve's guitar playing lost it's fire. It's hard to capture that level of power that you had when you were young and hungry. That is why I was so impressed by Bobby's performance here! Not only singing but smokin the piano also! I think the mic stand was pissing him off though! God bless you Bobby! They don't make them like you anymore. Toto was hungry and powerful when they started out. They continued to make good music through the years until they started losing original members. However the never captured that fire they had on their 1st album. Without Bobby, they were never as good. You can't replace an original like him.

@jaggass

Steve Porcaro once said that during rehearsals and even before the speakers was set up Bobby would come in and said he had he sing a couple of notes and was the loudest thing he ever heard. Bobby said his voice became powerful because he was screaming every night just to hear himself due to no monitors.
